Cheap Eats & a nice dinner spot
Hi, so I'm looking for a few places to eat during a short stay in Miami later this month. Places that are cheap - moderately priced with a local flavor for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...? Also, one night we want to go out for a nicer dinner? Recommendations? I'm looking into David's Cafe, 11th Street Diner, and Groovy's Pizza? Anything else?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to 411!
We have a few different guides to the cheap eats on SoBe Here is the inexpensive guide to restaurants in South Beach:

And here is a guide on how to eat in South Beach for only $10 a day!

I'll concur with 11th Street Diner for breakfast. For Cuban food, instead of David's, go to Puerto Sagua at 7th and Colliins. David's has been mediocre, at best, anytime I've gone. You might also want to try Cafe Charlotte on Washington Ave., near 15th.

Re: Cheap Eats & a nice dinner spot
God, we've got a million pizza places here. I'd say Groovy's is one of the lesser ones. Try Pizza Rustica on 9th or Sopranos between 7th and 8th. Pizza Med isn't bad either.
Lime on Alton Road is about $10 if you get a soda. Great fresh Mexican food, not greasy at all.
Pollo Tropical, also on Alton, VERY local caribbean kind of fast food stuff, but relatively healthy. Super cheap too.
Le Sandwicherie across from Club Deuce on 14th street is good, but not all that filling.
Crazy Mexican Taco Bar on 12th-13th and Washington is also pretty inexpensive, and Peppers across the street is really good. My favorite local burrito in Miami.
The Publix on Bay Road, or the one on 5th and Alton, makes the best sub sandwiches in Miami. Ask anyone from South Florida what they miss when they move away, and Publix Subs is on the top of that list. It's a supermarket, but the deli is phenomenal.
Personally I think Shake Shack is highly overrated, but it's cheap and a better burger than you'll get at McDonalds. It's just off Lincoln Road.

Hi A2Z,
If you're on Lincoln Rd check out Pascha's, (Mediterranian) Pizza Rustica, and I like Juice and Java on Washington if you want something healthy. For your nice dinner I like Altamare (Italian/Seafood) on Lincoln Rd.

Several of the pizza places on the beach are pretty affordable. Several out of towners who I've taken to Pizza Rustica have said that it's the best pizza they ever had, so Pizza Rustica is on to something.

I think Los Perros, Los Verrdes, and La Moon are must eats when in Miami. At least one of those places. With the Epic Colombian hot dogs and all the other goodness they have. And Los Verrdes is the cheapest of the three and filling as heck.

@ Chirsty I have eaten at Pasha's the food is good the servings are a little to small for me so I usually end up getting a couple things but it is a good spot to eat at to mix it up here and there.

I love Pizza Rustica! I think it's so much better than typical pizzeria style pizza. I think the portions at Pascha's are normal sized because it's South Beach Diet approved. Paul's is also an affordable place to have breakfast and lunch on Lincoln Rd.

I'm with the pizza bandwagon, and I don't really do those much.
A good pizza and bottle of Malbec can be fetched for $20 at Spris, on Lincoln Rd.

Mi Ami (400 block Ocean Drive) is my new favorite pizza place in south beach. They also have other items, but if you stick with pizza it'll be in the $11 to $15 each range. Every pizza I tried there has been excellent. Best value for the money.

Re: Cheap Eats & a nice dinner spot
I went to Fridays the other night and if you are looking for something quick and easy they have a few deals that are hard to beat. For dinner they have the 2 course for $10 or 3 course for like $13 deals throw drink specials on top of that and it is not bad at all. The good thing about Friday's is they are all over the place too.

Have you been to La perrada de Edgar ?
Had a colombian dog and a tutti frutti dog. It was OK. The parking at La Moon is tough since they moved, but I'll bike it there next time I'm down there.
Might have to go legit in Bogota later this comming week.
I usually don't listen to dinning recommendations on this site as I have frequented Miami for over 20 yrs and I pretty much know what's offered and I got my own tastes.
My previous post reco is probably your best bet based on your question, as well as it being deep penetrating inside information.

Re: Cheap Eats & a nice dinner spot
I like Mike's but that link seemed a little random.
Is that deal good at the Friday's in South Beach, Dylan? Much as it pains me to recommend Friday's to a visitor here, that seems like it would be one of the cheaper options.
I still don't see the appeal of most Latin cuisines other than Mexican. It's all grease, grease, pork, and some more grease. Then maybe some rice.

Spree on lincoln rd is a low cost/high quality favorite of mine

Mine too. Their Beat The Clock menu is great, with the price being the time you order. So if you order at 5:35pm, you pay $5.35. Oh, it's called Spris for anyone looking, by the Starbucks on Meridian Ave.

@ Matt That deal has been good at every Friday's I have been to in the state.
@ Blackford To me La Moon is overrated, Los Perros and Los Verdes are way better, they are out in Kendall though, but I think Los Perros has an alternate location some where. I have Columbian friends and they say these places are alright but it is way better in Columbia. And let me tell you when their mom's cook I make it a point to go to their place.
