That's definitely what the South of Fifth area was lacking, a high-end steakhouse. Not enough of those down there.

If they can go for mid-price range, then it could be a success. However, I bet they try ultra expensive, in which that market is incredible crowded. Too many high-end steak places in south beach, and nothing reasonable.

You're not going to choose this place over Prime, Red, or Smiths.

I can tell you this, the one in NYC is very expensive. So I would assume this will be too.

I think that location is not bad, the only real problem is lack of parking. A good restaurant could do well, but not sure another expensive steakhouse is needed.

LOL Opium Group?

Thai said that although Kane Steakhouse is a collaboration with The Opium Group, best known for nightclubs, this will be a serious restaurant with emphasis on "seamless service old-school style".

Kane has now closed. New restaurants should listen to Miami Beach 411 more often. Over priced, poor location, no visibility, no major hotels nearby, too many high-end steak joints nearby, etc.

Interesting place, never went there but heard how they blocked the windows that gave a view of the China Grill Building. Also, they spent a fair amount of time promoting themselves on twitter with testimonials by Opium Group employees (hostesses from the various clubs, etc).

I think they failed to realize people can see through 'fake' social media!

I liked Kane Steakhouse. I liked that it wasn't always packed, and it's true that they did adopt the nightclub ethos of lots of comps/freebies for people they knew (which may be why they're out of business so fast).

All that said, I won't miss it....... As everyone said, there's so much that's similar that I'll barely notice.
