Well, they say there are two shifts in South Beach: 9 to 5, and....9 to 5!

I care. That's who. Slow service in unacceptable. Even when drunk.
I wouldn't go to La Moon if the arepas weren't so damn good and it was the only place available near Brickell late at night with cheap, filling food. I find the service to be slow there after hours though when it's jam packed. It's normal during dinner time.

Matt, Maria, there is another small place to the west of La Moon that also serves big, messy hot dogs and such. I can't remember the name offhand, but we liked it a lot better. It's small and hole-in-the-wall-ish. I think it was cheaper, too. It's almost across the street from the Burger King.

A little birdie told me of a place that is to open sometime this year on 8th St and 1st in the very near future. The place sounded ideal for drunk food or any other time.

Coach, is this the burger king on S Miami Ave? That would be east of La Moon. I'm game for trying any new arepa place though!

Ha ha UTS ... we're all waiting eagerly!

Back when I lived near SW 8 St. and 62nd Ave, I would always go to La Palma, a greasy Cuban restaurant open 24 hours a day.

The only reason I don't go there anymore is that is now way out of my way.

I visited La Palma with the Burger Beast to conduct our research of fritas, Cuban hamburgers.

Last night my drunk food was Brent & Sams chocolate chip cookies with milk. I find that when I go out drinking, the next day on the scale the numbers go up a few pounds. Can anyone think of a drunk food snack (when you get home) that isn't that high in calories?

Also, do you eat drunk food because you're actually hungry or do you eat it because you think it will ease your hangover in the morning? I tend to do the later..but maybe it's not necessary??

My drunk food this past weekend in Key West was a big bag of chips called Pirate Booty from Walgreens. Hardly any calories cos they are like puffs of air, and delicious!

My drunk food from last night was a roast beef sandwich from some place on 5th that I have no idea the name of. Then I had the fish tacos at Clevelander. The sandwich was good the fish taco's were terrible...

I'm not sure why I get drunk food. It's not because I'm trying to avoid a hangover, because for me that clearly doesn't work. I don't think it's because I'm really hungry either. I think it's because it looks or sounds good and I no longer have the self control to say no.

I like pirates booty too. Here's a good explaination.

    1. It lowers your inhibition. So even though I'd love to buy and eat chocolate chip cookies every day my brain tells me no, but after a few drinks it seems like a a good idea.

    2. Alcohol interferes with the appetite control portion of your brain.

Christy, alcohol is nothing but empty carbs and the more you put in your body, the more you crave.

    Hence the term 'beer munchies'.

Throw in a little of that herb and its about 10 times worse. I think if I were a pothead I'd weigh 300 pounds.

Usually for me, I eat cos i am hungry, plain and simple. If I'm going out for the night, chances are I'll have a light dinner so I can fit in my dress then I go out for hours. I mean, in Miami, a night out can start at 9- 10pm getting ready and drinking. So come 4-5am, I'm hungry. It's been 8 hours since I've eaten!

Yeah, I'm so used to snacking/eating greasy or bad food after drinking I think sometimes I just do it out of habit. I'll try just coming home and going straight to bed. But no matter what I always want an egg sandwich the next day or a big take out breakfast..

So what would you rather do ladies, be 5 lbs slimmer and not drink or 5lbs heavier and be able to go out drinking? Tough call.

That's a no brainer for me Christy! Life's too short to not indulge ... in moderation, of course. Plus, it's easy to keep those 5 lbs. in check if you do it right.

If my drinking affected me to the point that I gained 5lbs, then no, it would have to stop. But I don't think it is possible to wake up 5lbs heavier! If the weight was creeping on from drunk eating then hell no, I would stop. Not cos I'm vain but cos I prefer to be healthy.

I eat and drink to excess on a regular basis and am extremely healthy.

That said, you never regret NOT eating something at the end of the night. But how many times have you woken up and looked at a pizza box or an empty bag of McDonalds and gone "WHY did I do that?!"

Then again, if you don't drink or eat much to look good, but then you don't go out, what's the point of looking so good? Catch 22, there.
