Miami - #2 Rudest City - Is Anyone Surprised
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/travel...&title=2_Miami
We only ranked behind New York. I think that's about right, although I prefer the people here to Angelinos.
Anybody been to a city in America they think was ruder than Miami besides NYC?

I thought London was pretty rude, but that probably doesn't count.

London is sooo rude (Love it!) but they are only doing US I think.
NYC and Miami sounds about right.

One of the reasons I fell in love with Dublin was that I visited it right after I had spent a week in London and it's the difference between night and day.
Dublin, in fact, is one of the friendliest cities I've ever visited, if not the friendliest.
I spent a week there, vowing to come back. When I did, I spent an additional 18 months.

I've found out Miamian's are great at avoiding eye contact... particulary in Brickell. Even if you dog is sniffing up their dog's ass, they don't look up. It's quite an amusing trait- perhaps more a defense mechanism than rudeness.
To the contrary of popular belief, NYers I've find to be kind if you find one not in a rush.

I never found NYers to be rude, but they are upfront, which I appreciate.

me too Carlos - but i do get weary of trying to explain the difference....i'm from Philly where, like NY, we are totally up-front, and many ppl seem to interpret 'straightforward', as 'rude'.
in other news, i really wonder sometimes if I live in the same Miami as other people on these discussion boards - my experience of this place is just diametrically opposite to what so many ppl think. Even in No. Miami, Opa-Locka, and downtown, I get freindlyness, eye-contact, decent customer service, strangers say hello passing on the street, offer to help me when they see me carrying something heavy - i just dunno, this place doesn't come across at all as rude, to me.

It's possible that living in CFL has softened my perception a bit. Everyone in my community knows everybody and is happy to be there. Maybe because it's gated, I get that inside looking out perspective. Kind of like being hermitically sealed from all the BS.
As I'm from a bigger city, It's tough to percieve Miami as rude... though I have opinions why some act the way they do that might be considered rude.

Orlando, Doug? Boring, maybe. Hickish and uneducated, sure. But rude? I've never found that.

You have to weed out the tourist first.

I agree with Catt, NYers are straightforward...no time for bullshit, which ppl misinterpret for rude. But hey "it is what it is" lol.
In my opinion I dont think ppl from Miami are rude, but we will see once I move n experience it 24/7 lol
