They aren't re naming Big Ben! No way.

Miami streets are designed to confuse people I think. It's how we know who's a local vs tourist or snowbird. I agree it's ridiculous. But you know what else is ridiculous. Hialeah streets. Why do the names change halfway down the street??

I dont know if it is a phobia.... but when I see cockroaches, I get hysterical. I dont mind mice or spiders (although the second depends vastly on the size).... but roaches that is another subject. I guess I developed this fear when we lived in North Africa and there was more than plenty of them. Nothing spoils your appetite more when you are enjoying a nice mediterrenean meal at a nice restaurant than the company of a cockroach on the wall next to you. I experienced the same thing in Texas. I just refused to go to the kitchen at night, because it was so traumatizing for me.

I dont remember seeing any roaches when I was in Florida many years ago, but considering the climate, I am sure there must be enough of them as well. If I had a major problem with something, it would probably be this.... and.... well the spring break attitude many tourists in Florida have.... but that can be avoided by not frequenting certain places.

Perhaps it's a french thing. In Paris, one avenue can have three or four different names.

Edit: Oh, I thought you said Haiti, not Hialeah.

Jess - Sorry to say it's already been approved I'n Parliment.
It's going to be called Elizabeth Tower.

Guys, I am English, and write this from London as I celebrate the jubilee... Trust me, it's not Big Ben changing names. That will never happen! They are naming something previously without a name. The tower housing the clock will be now be called Elizabeth but the clock name remains the same. And no one here refers to the clock tower... It's really only for the MPs within Parliament that this will affect.

It's the 60th anniversary of the coronation of some unelected monarch, with no apparent skills (except waving skills and purse holding skills), and no apparent job, taking the reigns as head honcho of the British Empire.

Sorry Jess, but many Americans just don't see eye to eye with Brtis over the Royalty stuff. We had a little war over it back in the 1700s.

Glenn - Don"t forget they are also adept at rattling their jewlery

I have the same approach to royalty as Francis Urquhart. Fans of the BBC hit series, House of Cards, affectionately call him FU.

With the way immigration has gotten out of hand, the Royals seem like a good temporary buffer. In that respect, May God save the Queen.

Anyone care to rant or opine who can some be considered Miami royalty ? I'd definitely revolt against them as they haven't done shit for the community
The Estefan's and key figures of Univision come to mind.

I think the real Miami roayalty has mostly left town. You don't meet too many people named Collins or Brickell or Tuttle or Douglas anymore.
