I agree. Sad to see St. Agustine and people not evacuating who lived on or a few blocks from the beach get stuck in their homes/hotels. I love that town and my dad lived there for a long time....

But, they were warned so I don't have sympathy for living in a building with no power. Even AirBnb was offering free places to stay.

If there was even a chance it would hit Miami, we would have left the day before at least. Especially since we have a small child. No reason to take a risk, its just a day of your life. Go watch TV at a friends house/hotel or bring your toys to a shelter for the day.

It's a pool day here in my part of CFL.

After the the last band passed me, I lost interest and stopped directly follwing Matthew. That is not to say I'm not unaware what happened in the NE part of the state.

As a state we were on top of this and I noticed this back in 04. Just goes to show, Katrina didn't have to go the way it went down. Local and state governance matters but I was totally unimpressed by Miami's mayor leading up to this. Totally la
ughable is this guy had a situation above his head.

Yeah we don't do much right here, but we do hurricane prep well. I think NE Florida fared as well as it could given the situation.

I forgot about the hurricane until I saw a news report that some children in NC finally were able to go back to school yesterday. Wasn't this like two weeks ago. We lucked out but it would be interesting to check out A1A and beach erossion on the Treasure Coast.

My dad drove up and down A1A in Flagler Beach to St. Augustine. Said the side of the road was just littered with debris..people's belongings, mattresses, etc. whatever got soaked from the flooding...

The NC situation looked Dire a week ago, especially if the Duke Energy Plant had its lake flood the river with harmful ash.
