Wasn't Posner's book discredited or something? I thought it was a good read.

Try David Rieff's "Going to Miami" from 1987. It was a contemporary non-fiction look at Miami circa the 1980's.

I liked Posner's book despite he plagerized portions of it. It didn't bother me. I loved it and shortly after I read it, Gus got me a few comp nights at the Sherbrooke so I can relive and feel out portions of that book. I would have loved to have lived in Miami Beach during that period. So many dynamics meshing at the same time. It's currently stale compared to those times.

If you blow up my avatar, Miami Babylon was my beach read .... though that pic was taken in Clearwater.

I can't remember the book. It's currently sitting on my coffee table in Miami. It's pretty much in scrap book format, three fingers deep with vintage pictures of old Miami. I'll get back to you on that.
