Default Small intimate wedding ceremony in Miami

Hello guys. My fiancée and I are planning a very small wedding ceremony for under 10 people (just us and our immediate family). Miami has a lot of beautiful places, but most of them are so touristy and not intimate at all. Do you know of any nice picturesque locations that are not yet "discovered", where we could have our small ceremony.

Have you been to Matheson Hammock Park? There are some beautiful places to get married near the park entrance and near the water.

There's also the grounds outside of Vizcaya.

Do you have a wedding officiant to marry you?

I Do Forever married my wife and I in a small ceremony on South Beach. She made our wedding very special. 2 years later, people still comment about what a nice ceremony she provided.

We got married on the roof of a building.

It's not an unknown spot, but you can get married right at the lighthouse at the end of Key Biscayne. It's VERY small and cozy, and the "aisle" leading to it is a shaded path. I went to a wedding there and loved it - the view was amazing. I would call the park directly; it's probably way cheaper to set it up through them. Then you could stay and picnic right there!

    Here's some info: http://www.floridastateparks.org/capeflorida/

    Some great pictures: http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=360

    Congratulations and good luck!

Gus and Tere - what great ideas! What is that gorgeous hotel in the gables called? That place has the most beautiful courtyard for a wedding ceremony

Yes! That is exactly the hotel I was thinking of. Gorgeous courtyard, small and romantic, lush and tropical.

Hi Panthera! Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your engagement!

The restaurant at Matheson Hammock, Redfish Grill, is available for private parties and catered events. A sunset ceremony at this quaint and secluded spot would be very lovely indeed. It's tropical and facing the bay, but it's not touristy at all.

Tere, what a great idea! It's good to hear the trees have all grown over at Bill Baggs State Park.

But VERY expensive! If money's not an issue, definitely worth it!!

We passed by the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and saw a small wedding there one evening. It is a beautiful spot.

Crandon Park beach, on a weekday, 10am. Totally deserted beach. Worked for us.

    Or the Mai-Kai :)

Hi Pete, thanks for your suggestions.

Is the Mai-Kai the Polynesian theme restaurant in Fort Lauderdale? Can you tell us a bit more what that's like?

Yes, the Mai-Kai is the extremely kitschy Tiki restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. As Tiki-style Googie as it gets. Cool Polynesian dancing shows. Nice little garden that can be reserved for small weddings. Gift shop. Bad food.

It'll be an architectural landmark some day, if it lasts long enough.

If you are looking for a picturesque location in Miami there is a beautiful Spanish Monastery there! They have a French Alter that fits ten guests! They also have two other spots that fit more people if you decided on more. I can't post the link on here, but just google "Spanish Monastary Best Miami Weddings" and it will come up. I am sure it would be perfect for a small ceremony. But there are a lot of amazing ideas for places in Miami where you can have an intimate ceremony.

That's the one up in Little Haiti, right? That place is awesome.
