Miami voted #13th best city for singles

A recent Forbes poll just listed Miami as the 13th best city to live in if you're a single.

Forbes determined which U.S. cities amongst the 40 largest urbanized areas in mainland America are most comfortable for soloists based on seven different categories: number of singles, nightlife, culture, cost of living alone, job growth, online dating activity and coolness.

My question: who @ Forbes is coming up with these ridiculous poll results?

Orlando is a better place for singles than Miami?!?!?!?

Orlando would be the shittiest place I could IMAGINE to be single. I'm sorry, but much as I love to make fun of Miami, you'd be hard pressed to find a city where it's better to be single. And probably worse to be in a relationship, but seriously, there's parties every damn night, a steady flow of tourists, hot girls, hot guys, and it is relatively affordable (compared to say NY or LA or San Fran or Boston or Chicago).

I have to agree with you about that. The only thing that keeps me in Miami are the warm winters, the sun, and the beach. It's fun to make fun of Miami. Being a native New Yorker I know better than to leave the attitude behind.

It is great to be single in Miami. In general, it's hard meeting really cool people here to begin with.

Compared to NYC it's dirt cheap to live here. According to statistics as of this August, Miami is now supposed to be the third most expensive city in the US. I'm a little baffled over that one. I would think the cities mentioned above would be ahead of this town.

Rent is comparable to any major city you'd want to live in, and a fraction of LA or SF or Chicago. Maybe it's expensive in proportion to what people are paid, that I would believe.

The stats come from the real estate market. Right now the three most expensive cities in the US is NYC, LA, and Miami. It's the housing market alone. I should've made myself clearer in those aspects. The bear necessities, such as groceries et al than I agree with you about that 100%.

I transferred in Sacramento once at the Greyhound station, going from LA to Portland, OR. It was meth central there. Pretty downtown, though. And then there's always the Governator.

As a native Sacramentan, I can safely say that is totally accurate. Sac has this wannabe LA vibe going on (and why ANYBODY would want to be LA is beyond me) that has a lot of the girls getting implants and whatnot. Plus, Sac is also ripe with rich older women who get the same thing done. And remember this is PER CAPTIA. Much as we see the implants in South Beach and Coral Gables, not too many folks in Cutler Bay and Westchester are going under the knife.

I just can't beleive LA and Orange County aren't on that list. And Seattle is? Weird.

Oh yea I paid and got a good lesson thats what I got... Being "owed" something??? Sorry to inform you but ask any guy if he takes a girl out and spends $300 he is looking for something.
