I hope this is true.
A Panera Bread Company would do great in South Beach.
If anyone has the scoop, please let us know.

Drove by it on Sunday. I'd say it's a few blocks N of 5th though.

I have the scoop
It is opening on the corner of Alton Road and I think 13th street. If it isn't 13th it is 14th, but it is in that area.
I am amazed if it is opening tomorrow. Last time I went by (this week!) no signs were up and the shop inside was not built.

I believe it's where Quarterdeck used to be, but I"m not 100% on that. Drove by yesterday looked ready for business.

I saw people eating there on the patio today so I believe it's open. Taste bakery down the street must be sobbing.

Taste is 100 times better though. Family owned, supporting the community... those are the businesses I support. You won't get me in Panera (Not that i can eat much there anyways) but I will always choose Taste over them.

It's just too damn hot a cramped in there. When the "family" decides to turn the ac on , I can find a decent table on a Saturday morning, and get some quick customer service I'll support them too. Till then, you can find me at Panera kickin it with the corporate pigs.

Yeah, seating and fast, efficient service wins out every time.
Paneras down here, I've found, are always really good when they open because they have corporate management in there and it runs like a store in the rest of America. Then about 6-12 months later Miami people take over and the place goes to sh!t. I expect nothing less from this location.
