Default Movies Filmed in Miami, Florida

Let's make a list of movies and TV shows that were either filmed in, or related to Miami, Florida. If you want to jot down somthing about the film that you remember, that's cool too.

    I'll begin..."The Birdcage".

The opening shot of the film, flying over the water, up the beach, and on to Ocean Drive is one of the best cinematic images of South Beach, in my opinion.

Anyone else remember a Miami-related movie?

Scarface - Who can forget the shoot 'em up scene in a hotel on Ocean Dr.? That was classic!

Something About Mary - Flimed just North of the McArthur Causeway, minutes from Downtown Miami. That was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. How about the hair gel scene?

"True Lies" was filmed in Miami. The movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, at his biggest, baddest and best.

    Two Words: Golden Girls.

Bad Boys are boycotted as they shut down the causeway for 2 days causing insane traffic. F- them.

How did we all forget Miami Vice both TV and movie. Am I the only one who really liked the movie too?

Fast and the Furious 2 also was filmed here. I worked secuirty for that one night.

Many movies have gatuitous scenes filmed on location here so everyone could get a trip to South Floirda. 8mm comes to mind but also that one about Harrison Ford and a plane crash.

Miami Rhapsody, The Perez Family, the short-lived Dave's World TV show based on Dave Barry's writings.

Cocaine Cowboys is still my favorite, though.

On a more obscure note: indie horror fans might appreciate that the granddaddy of all slasher films was shot in Miami in 1963 -- Herschell Gordon Lewis's Blood Feast. John Waters counts that film among his inspirations. So you can blame Miami for Pink Flamingos....the other kind!

I'm with Mirna on Bad Boys. Does anyone remember the TV show Good Morning Miami? (Had to pause for a TV moment...sorry to change the topic, but is Taye Diggs not the hottest man alive???). Anyway, Good Morning Miami was short lived but one of my husband's favorites at the time. How about Ace Ventura? One of Jim Carrey's first big movies. It was stupid but funny.

I think all of you are forgetting one of Oliver Stone's best: "Any Given Sunday". There many others to remember (forget) like for example "Holy Man" with Eddie Murphy, "Deja Vu" with Denzel Washington and so many more...

PS:Why did you bring up Taye Diggs name up? Any relation at all?

Muffin, if it's any consolation, I didn't actually see "From Justin to Kelly"!! I just caught the promos on MTV, but decided against going to the actual film. A few fleeting moments of South Beach footage weren't worth two hours of Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson. Not seeing it must be worth at least two points!

As for television, I'll always associate my teenage idea of Miami with Que Pasa, USA?. I thought I had mastered Spanish in school until I tried to understand what they were saying...

And what about Sabado Gigante with Don Francisco? That's taped in Miami, right?

Freespirit, I didn't know "Deep Throat" was filmed here. That doesn't surprise me after reading the post at Boom or Bust about Miami being the capital of online adult films.

The incredible thing is that many of these videos take place in condos. The Flamingo and Venetia are just two to name. It would be interesting to know if the condo Associations knew about these activities
Our blacklist stops me from linking to the post, but if you click the "Boom or Bust" link and search the site for [online pornography] you'll be able to find it.

Basically, it's a round-up of Miami adult film companies.

Muffin, we need to update the wiki page, it's not complete. I can think of 3 movies that are missing from the list -- one being a little independent film called "Gringo Wedding".

My favorite film from your list (not including "Scarface") is either: "Black Sunday" or "Miami Blues".

Congratulations, Muffin! You're the first winner. PM me your address

I can still think of 2 movies that were filmed in Miami that are missing from the list.

The contest isn't over yet. 2 more Members can still win.

Keep submitting your Miami-related movies and TV shows.

BTW, I really enjoyed "Adaptation", that's the film with Merrill Streep about the ghost orchid. If I remember correctly, didn't she also get involved with some sort of Internet based business toward the end of the movie? Bonus credit for anyone who can tell me what kind of website Merril had.

Bigas Luna's HUEVOS DE ORO with hunkalicious Javier Bardem (he's my boyfriend, but doesn't know it).

In this soft-porn drama, the oversexed hunk Benito Javier Bardem spends a good portion of his military service in north Africa dreaming of sex, money and power - but mostly sex. He can barely keep himself in control, and is constantly grabbing his crotch. Somehow, when he is released from the service, he marries the daughter (Maria de Medeiros) of a real moneybags, and he uses some of those resources to build a gigantic skyscraper in the form of a phallus. After a car crash leaves him partially paralyzed and very despondent, his ill-used wife kicks him out and he moves to Miami, where he picks up a woman who (in a reversal of roles) loves 'em and leaves 'em. For some reason, this circumstance cuts our previously almost irrepressibly priapic hero to the heart, and he sobbingly realizes the extent of his losses. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
There is a fabulous still of Javier standing in front of the original Wolfie's on Collins and 23rd. I'm looking for it! Stay tuned ...

By the way, a cocky developer humbled to tears in Miami? Say it aint so!

PS ... Freespirit, welcome to Smoky Beach!

Gracias, Maria! Keep that parrot inside today!

Between this fire and the tropical depression, I feel like I'm in an Irwin Allen movie!
