Default Marlins Opening Night 2011 (Pics)

Marlins baseball season started last night. Miami Beach 411 has four tickets to every Saturday home game. Matt picked great seats. We're in Section 250, Row 8, Seats 13 thru 16, directly in front of the press box, and about 200 feet from home plate.

We saw a great game. Marlins beat the Mets, 6 to 2, with a grand slam home run in the 4th inning.

Matt and Carlos are going tonight.

There's a Pitbull concert, after the game.

Exclamation Pic Shows How Desparately A New Ballpark Is Needed

Awesome seats and great pics! What strikes me, though is the distance of those uncovered empty outfield seats from the action! A football stadium (and a nasty one at that), cannot ever be made 'right' for baseball!

I'm looking forward to keep up with the final construction details along with other news on www.miamiballpark.com (What a great and helpful idea for a website!)

Hey Matt or Gus, is it true the new miamiballpark will be one of the smallest in the majors, so it can offer the most close up almost intimate experience in baseball?

    Thanks!

That's cool! We interviewed one of the Marlins' marketing people on my radio show two weeks ago. They have a great line up coming up with the music after the games. If I didn't have plans for tonight, I would have gotten a press pass to see Pitbull. It's going to be quintessential Miami.

I'm eager to do a hard hat tour of the new stadium.

They are great seats. No exaggeration. They are directly in front of the press box.

Yeah, we gotta get a lot of press box reaction shots!

    4/2 - NY Mets
    4/23 - Colorado Rockies
    5/7 - Washington Nationals
    5/11 - Philadelphia Phillies
    5/18 - Chicago Cubs
    5/21 - Tampa Bay Rays
6/4 - Milwaukee Brewers (we may be planning a mini-meetup for this game or the one before in a Luxury Box)
    6/8 - Atlanta Braves
    6/11 - Arizona Diamondbacks
    7/9 - Houston Astros
    7/23 - New York Mets
    8/6 - St. Louis Cardinals
    8/13 - San Francisco Giants

    Default Mini meet-up!

    What a great ideal!

Wouldn't it be great if some of our out of town friends could plan a visit around it given the advance notice!

    Thanks Gus and Michelle!!!!

Hi Gus, thanks for the 411. The only reason I didn't go last night is because one of our loyal forum members graciously asked me out to dinner and I didn't want to switch up plans.

But yes, it's much easier to not have to deal with getting press passes. Thank you for keeping me in the loop.

I was not aware of the meetup on 6/4 ... do we have a forum thread on that? I'll save the date for sure, whichever one you end up doing in the luxury box! Sounds awesome!

Mr. Garvin, I know you're a busy man, but if you can find the time to attend, it would make the game! The same goes for GandJ, rk, UTS, wpns4l, Jess, Mario, Katalina, Carlos, Fabian, Miamichiwi, Miami Beach Bum, and ShannonSoBe.

I wish we could invite everyone, but there is only 14 box tickets.

Maria, it's been discussed a few places, but nothing official.

Rather getting catering at the game, it sounds more fun to tailgate before, and trash the box with drinks!

Count me in! I'll bring the kosher dogs! (and the veggie burgers!)

Gus, if more than 14 people are interested, all the more reason for a HUGE tailgate. Checking on stubhub, many outfield reserved seats are available for only $8! I will be more than happy to help people arrange getting tickets together this way.

    One last thing Go Brewers!!!!!!!!!!!

Fred, great idea about including everyone. Let's make an official announcement in May.

wpns4l, we're saving 4 tickets for you in July.

I'm sure that I could probably rally the Marlins marketing team for some support here for additional tickets ...

Tailgating is a blast. We did it last year.

Fred & wpns, won't be the same without you! Hope you will be here.

    Maria,

Will you and Matt combine resources and contact the Marlins together and ask them if they want to host a Tweetup with Miami Beach 411? Matt has some friends in the sales department that might be able to help. I bet you two could make it an awesome event!

That sounds great to me, Gus! I am traveling to NYC this week for a social commerce summit and then a cupla days personal time. I'll get on it the following week at which point I'll contact Matt as well.
