FYI: The show is fake.

After my scooter was illegally towed from a private lot that no one called it in on, we spoke to the evening and then day time managers and both said the show was fake and that those people don't even work for the company. Only 2 of the trucks were painted the nice yellow for the show. The rest of the trucks are still ugly.

they are lucky I'm not still a 21 year old, or id' be planning a "throw rocks/eggs/assault the drivers everytime you see them campaign".

You know they break into cars right? When they tow your car after being parked in a residential section, they show up with a long, wire hanger type contraption and unlock you car door to put your parking break on. I noticed that my break was up (which I've never used) in my 4WD element and couldn't figure out how that got up with the doors locked....Then I watched 2 cars get towed and the drivers break into the cars and set off the alarms...I didn't realize we were living in Communist China...

I have also seen them break into cars. I couldn't believe it. The funniest thing I have seen was in the Back of America parking lot. The guy picked up a car to tow and there was a woman inside. She jumped out and started freaking out at the guy. He dropped the car and sped off.
One night I was watching them tow cars out of the BK parking lot on 5th from my balcony. They started towing someone and somehow the car fell off the hook and slid sideways out of the driveway right into the street......

I was just looking at the city of miami beach website and there is actually a towing bill of rights on the page.

Drop fees occur when a vehicle owner arrives on the scene of a tow and the vehicle has been
engaged (hooked) by the tow truck, but the tow truck has not left the scene. Although Florida
law allows towing companies to assess a drop fee (of not more than 50% of the posted towing
rates), Miami Beach’s towing companies have agreed to voluntarily waive all drop fees. The
same identification that is required to retrieve vehicle from a tow facility is required for drop
fees to be waived.

What a joke. Those guys make up random drop fees as they go.

oh yes got to view the show "south beach towing" was appauled that the guy "jerome" towed a womans car that had a pomeranian dog in the car. The lady went to get her dog in return and "jerome" would not return her dog cause they fell inlove with the womans little dog. This made me furious they grabbed the woman and threw her out cause she wanted her dog. Now I am a dog owner and if my car was towed and my dog was in the car while i was in the store and they would not return my dog, ya I think I would snap, to be honest i would probley burn their tow truck down to just the frame. I'm a fan of Jennifer Lopez but Maybe Jennifer Lopez should stick to judging idol or dancing or singing. These people shouid be ashamed for takin the womans dog and treating customers in this way, they towed a car not a animal. These people seem to be effing idiots! The next show i seen was a taxi got towed from the airport that had customers luggage in the the taxi and still they would not return the people luggage. Like it was the customers problem and not that taxi company problem. I wonder if someone's kid was in the car would they try to keep the kid too lmfao. these people are idiots and to be honest what goes around comes around maybe one day they'll tow the wrong persons car. Mrs.Lopez I can't believe you would envolve yourself with such sillyness with these assholes! sorry for my language but really this is a hell of a lot nicer then what i really would like to say and this site has rules so. Bottom line if it was me i probley would have burned their fn shop down to the grounnd. ya the first and last time i ever watch that bs again. who the f is the idiots who gave these idiots a fn job and a show should be shot lol.there thats my rant and i"m probley gonna delete myself now that i've said my peace

These Tremont South Beach Tow guys are not only antiheroes and scumbags, but also plain thieves.
They steel cars with the co-operation of the corrupt city hall people. There is a city ordinate that if a car has not been moved for 2 days it can be towed without any other reason. And if it is not found and claimed within a month it becomes a property of the Tow company.
When claiming you will pay couple hundred bucks per day.. so do the math: 2 weeks will cost you almost $3k. They took my second car like that and I never claimed it as it was not worth it... City said they can not do anything as it is the rule..

So, don't leave your car on a legal resident parking spot and go traveling as your car may not be there when you come back.

I know I am not the only person this has happened to, and I know that people with nicer cars have been victimized with this organized thievery.

It makes me sick that now they are promoted like this, and this really hurts my feelings towards J-Lo....so sad.

all the more reason to only rent a place that includes parking, if one lives on the beach.....to me, it's not a matter of "Don't have a car if you live on the beach" - it's "Don't rent an apartment unless it has parking".

I'm not about to give up my vehicle and curtail my freedom, or be limited to the substandard public trans here, or have to stick close to "only" the beach areas - I have way too much going in life to stick to one small area. In any case, i cannot carry my musical instruments on the bus.

So I won't even consider a potential rental unless it has a dedicated parking spot.

I agree Catt. When I lived on the beach, I never got towed since I'm keenly aware of the tow mafias presence. But if I got home after 6 or 7 PM, it would take me easily 30 minutes to find spot.

I always have this fear when I go away for a week or so. Fortunately my area is not heavily patrolled. That said on my next long trip I'm def parking my cars elsewhere. I don't even know how that's legal.

oh YAH mario, my first apartment was like that - no street parking left after about 5 pm.

I'd typically leave the house at 8 or 9 PM, then get home from the gig at 2 AM, or sometimes 4 or 5, and be roaming around for AN HOUR tryna park - it got so bad i got into the habit of going home first to unload the instruments, then go back out to park wherever i could, sometimes i'd be walkin half a mile home in the middle of the damn night, lol. Learned my lesson..... after that first beach apartment, now i rent only where i have my own spot....
