Visiting Miami alone, looking for affordable yoga
Hello, I'm thinking of traveling to Miami by myself for 4-5 days at the end of March (at some point during march 17-25th, to be precise). I want to make it a trip during which I do lots of YOGA. What are some ways to do this in a affordable, fun way? Thanks, R p.s.- general advice on coming to Miami alone and still having a good time would be appreciated as well

Re: Miami alone/ yoga
Hi Manhattan,
March is a busy time in Miami with Spring Breakers and DJ's but I'm sure you can do a peaceful vacation nevertheless. The Standard hotel is kind of isolated and they have a great spa and yoga classes there: http://www.standardhotels.com/miami/spa-wellbeing/yoga/
You can also look into Synergy in South Beach: http://www.synergyyoga.org/
There's also free/give a donation yoga on the beach.
The key is finding a quiet hotel during this time.

Re: Visiting Miami alone, looking for affordable yoga
I originally came to Miami alone for a week and did lots of yoga during my trip.
3rd street beach costs $5, and is held daily at 7am/ 5pm. (6pm if the clocks have gone into summer time hours)
The class is held on the beach and is wonderful, looking up at open sky while you do your poses. It is a hard class, I wouldn't say it is for beginners, but it is worth doing if you can.
There is a Saturday morning class held in South Pointe park at 10:30am also $5.
For classes in a studio, the following studios offer walk in rates:
Green Monkey
Miami Life Center
Synergy
23rd street yoga.
These are the places I actually know and have used. My favorite is Miami Life Center.

Re: Visiting Miami alone, looking for affordable yoga
Hi there! Welcome to the forums.
I wrote an article about yoga on the beach a while back when I was still teaching asana. It's a bit old but you'll get the gist: http://www.miamibeach411.com/news/pr...ga-on-the-sand
You should call Synergy. I believe they are based on a donation system.
Also, I think Green Monkey has community classes for about $7. Check with the other studios as well.
I'd encourage you to bring you mat as well. You can always practice on your own in the hotel room or on the beach.
