Hi Adam, welcome to MB411
You will be here for the tail end of July 4th celebrations so there should be some fun parties going on that weekend still.
South Beach is always packed with people so you will have no shortage of people to mingle with.
Good spots to start off with are The Clevelander pool, Zekes on Lincoln for cheap beer, Lost Weekend to meet the locals and Mangos for a really Miami tourist night out.

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
You have picked probably the most expensive city to go out inh, other than NYC. Vegas is expensive also but nothing compares to SoBe. If you want to party hard, expect to spend some $$$ so don't gamble it away in Vegas!
-
Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
money is not an issue we have budgeted for $600-$1000(each) a night in SoBe. Over here we have to pay for EVERYTHING so any freebies we can blag will be a massive bonus. Im personally really looking forward to the SoBe experience and partying with the locals...
On another note we have to single lads in the group and they want to know where the hot spots are for girls? im taking a punt at the beach being the best place for this during the day, but at night?
Being a group of guys, are we going to be left standing in lines all night trying to get into places?

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Ha ha, I was going to say what Jess said, Miami is super expensive so make sure you don't spend it all in Las Vegas! Staying from the 5th to the 10th is perfect! How old is your group?
Places to go while you're here: Mynt, Mansion or LIV, Delano, Mondrian, Ocean Dr-touristy but fun for a drink or two, dinner outside on Lincoln Rd, Segafredo Espresso on Espanola Way, and make sure to do a pool party or Nikki Beach. All of these are fun mingling spots and you'll see tons of girls! I would do bottle service to get into LIV or mynt, this way you know you'll get in.
Where are you staying?

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
We are 'HOPING' to leave Las Vegas a little richer than we started so any extra money is abonus!!! Yeah 5 days was the compromise for us, any i think any longer and we wouldnt want to come back, or couldnt afford to haha!!
The 4 of us are aged between 24-27, always up for a good time and hiting the party scene hard!! Pool parties and the beach are both high on the 'to do' list. The idea is to get the most of these 5 days as possible!!!!
Whats the general feeling about UK guys, as ive been to places before (not in the US) where the reception has not always been so good?
Bottle service has always been the plan, hense the $600-1000 a night budget but what sort of price range we talking about roughly for bottle service?
Were staying at The Park Central Hotel, The travel agent said this hotel was ideal for us as its close to the beach and nightlife? from what ive seen its a good hotel, but is what the travel agent said true? we all know the like to exaggerate from time to time...

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Hi Adam,
Park Central is a great hotel, stay there every year, right on Ocean Drive, close to all the bars, restaurants and beach right across the road with complimentory sun loungers. The hotel has a great roof terrace as well for chilling out as well as a pool on site. There are plenty of places right along Ocean Drive for drinks etcm but be wary they are a tourist trap with rip off prices, best to head off Ocean Drive like the places already mentioned above. Local are well friendly with us brits, so no probs there. Just let loose and have fun , heading back there myself later on on the year again.

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Hi Adam,
I've never heard of people treating English guys any differently from any other tourists. That shouldn't happen in Miami. Your hotel is right on Ocean and 6th. It will probably be a little noisy so you should request a room that faces the rear of the building. The hotel is in a good location-across the street from the beach and South Beach stretches from 23rd to 1st, so you're in the middle. Ocean Dr. is filled with very touristy restaurants and nightlife spots like Mangos's and Clevelandar, but you don't have to spend all your time on Ocean Dr.
Bottle service prices are based on the night of the club, any special guests, and the table location. You can contact a promoter or the club for exact prices. LIV will be the most expensive.

No one has an issue with English people in either Vegas or Miami. I've never had a problem anywhere really...? Maybe in France where they hate everyone who doesn't speak French, but in Miami you'll be fine.

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Cheers triock and christy its good to know that the travel agents over here are telling the truth (for once!!!) I think a little closer to the time I will get in contact with promoter/club and get a rough idea on prices, a lot of things can change in 5 months and maybe I’ll be able to find out if there are any special guests booked too. When you thinking of going back triock?
Jess in relation to the 'issue with brits'... Firstly the French HATE us brits!!!!
Secondly...I think it’s more when a group of guys/girls go away, unfortunately in years gone by in certain holiday destinations (probably due to the drinking age being 18) we have gained somewhat of a reputation for going over the top, drinking FAR too much and generally acting like idiots. This is not representative of me or my mates, I’ll admit we know how to have a good time and party with the best but know when to stop.
I suppose with the drinking age being 21 in the US it means you don’t get the drunken 18 year olds in bars/clubs who can’t be trusted with a coke let alone a bottle of vodka all over the place like we do over here.
I’ve been over to the states several times before mainly Orlando, Tampa & Clearwater and never had any trouble what so ever, everyone has always been very nice and friendly. Glad to hear Miami will be the same

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Hi Adam,
I'll be over in Nov, to get some winter sun before the big chill starts again in the UK, lol. There isnt an issue with a group of guys/girls going into clubs that I have noticed. You are right there is the perception of us brits as loud and brash, but that isnt something i have experienced in Miami, but then their age limit helps, and it isnt the kind of place that you will come across this sort of behavoiur anyways.
Although Park Central is on Ocean Drive, I have stayed in rooms at the front, side and rear facing, and there isnt an issue on noise, the only disturbance i have experienced is mainly from the other guests, but a quick call to reception soon sorted that out. I think you will like the hotel, which also has free Wifi in the rooms and a separate room on the mezzanine floor with 2 pcs for guest use, so you can surf the web for local clubs, bars, restaurants as well as check in on line etc. Depending on what time you fly on your last day, ask the guys at reception to use the shower room to change and shower, that way you can spend most of your last day on the beach, instead of sitting in an airport lounge, it doesnt take that long to get to the airport esp if you have checked in oline the day before.

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Oh ok Triock trying to get the last bit of sunshine before the drab rain/cold weather strikes the UK, good choice!! suppose you dont get much of that good sunny weather up in Manchester!!!
That’s really good to know, I know I’m still young (25) and can’t really pass too much judgement but I hate it over here in the UK when you go out to a pub/club and all the just turned 18 year olds giving it the big ‘I AM’ because they can legally get in (with a real ID), buy alcohol and get totally smashed on £5!!
Roll on July....
The Park Central is sounding like the perfect location for us then... we have everything we need within a short distance.. cant wait!!! we have an evening flight home so knowing we can get a shower before we go means we can take advantage of the beach right up till the last minute.

Re: UK boys in south beach JULY 2012!!!
Yeah thats the idea, we get sunshine matey just freezing cold is all, lol. Nice to swimming in the sea when the Uk is cold and damp.
Very different attitude im Miami, very little if any hassle, locals very friendly, i always have a good time neways,
I think the hotel is fab, and perfectly located. Its great to know that you can drop your bags off at check out and head off to the beach right up to the last minute then shower and change before heading off to the airport, no hanging around airport lounges for hours before the flight.
At the airport in Miami there is not a lot to so and not many shops either. After customs there is a pizza hut, burger king, small shop and a bar. Not at all like Heathrow or Gatwick. I'm sure u guys will have a great time, Miami is a fantastic place, well i love it anyways.

Terminal F at MIA for Virgin and BA is total crap. No shops, nothing to do. Flying Delta from H is sooo much better, its newer with good shops.

Are there any groups of people out there who have booked up trips to SoBe at the same time as us?
