Hi minakshisingh, welcome!
What airport is she arriving into - Miami or Ft. Lauderdale?
Where is she going to?

Assuming you mean from Miami airport to downtown or south beach, a taxi will be best (a flat rate $32 or less). More information will definitely help.

Why would a taxi be best? Cant you catch a bus for $3 dollars? I am flying in to Miami in a couple of weeks and staying in North Miami Beach. I planned on taking the bus everywhere- its so cheap.
Is there a safety issue that I am not aware of?

Also- I was planning on taking the bus from North Miami (near 42nd and Collins) to South Beach. Is there any issues with buses? Last year I took taxis everywhere and spend close to $150 alone on travel. Trying to cut down.

No, there is no safety issue, and the "airport flyer" bus (#150) from the airport for $2.35 per person is certainly a great option for anyone wanting to save money.
I said taxi would be best because the OP mentioned "comfortable transportation ... for grandmother"
Also, 42 and Collins is considered mid-beach.

Got it. Thanks much for responding. I was afraid that the bus transportation might be sketchy. I certainly do not want to feel uncomfortable just to save a few dollars.

The main problem with getting around on the bus in Miami is that you have to change so many times. The Airport Flyer bus is one of the few direct buses available from the airport. Just make sure where she's going is on the route. If you want to take a look at some possible routes, Google Transit planner is an excellent resource. Just put in where you're starting from and where you're going and the time of day/date. It will tell you how many times you'll need to transfer and what time you'll get to your destination.

Re: Looking for airport transportation services
So it seems the buses are safe....how about the metro rail (is that what it is called)? One night my wife and I are going to a restaurant called fratella something- she picked it out. I saw we could take a bus to a metro rail station. I am, unfortunately, on a little bit of a budget this trip. Going to go to some Heat games and the plane tickets were sky high.

The metro-rail is safe, and a great way to get around; it's just not used as much as it should be.
