Trendy shopping in South Beach?
Hi guys,
Im going to be coming to Miami in March and ill need to be doing some clothes shopping ( i live in macau, china and they just dont cater to normal sized western people).
Ill be staying about a block away from Espanola Way etc. Im after nothing too high end just trendy shirts, jeans, shoes and trainers (sneakers to you ). Where would you recommend going to for those? I dont mind jumping in a taxi to get there.
cheers
frosty.

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
Hi frosty,
Welcome to Miami Beach 411. Thanks for posting your question here.
It won't be necessary to take a taxi to find what you're looking for. There's a Footlocker shoe store on Washington and Lincoln Road. There is also a place called DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) near north of Miami Beach, near the Aventura Mall, but you'd have to take a bus to get there. The "Route S" bus will get you from Miami Beach to the Mall in about 90 minutes.
For reasonably priced trendy clothes, there's a shop called Deco Collection at 901 Washington Ave. There's another small cloting store called Venissac at 1627 Washington Ave., and if you're looking for a bigger selection, there's a Marshall's discount clothing store on Alton Road and 5th Street.
Hope this helps.

If you want to visit a mall, do as Gus suggested and jump on the S or 120 bus to Aventura from Lincoln Road outside of CVS. From there, it takes about 40 minutes to travel up to the mall, where you will find everything you need, and will be in shopping heaven!

Jess, I didn't realize the bus could get to the Mall in 40 minutes. Thanks for correcting me. =)

It can get there in about 40 mins late night or early morning, but mostly you're looking at 60+ minutes from Lincoln Rd.

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
near Espanyola way are good clothes shops (on collins avenue from 9th to 5th street) Levis, Tommy Hilfiger, A/X, UGGs, Zara, GAP and so on...
and a lot of good shops on Lincoln road...
there is also a Macy's in south beach..I don't remember exactly the street, but also good for shopping..

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
The Macy's is on Meridian, 1 block north of Lincoln Road.
Since this topic is about trendy shopping, Urban Outfitters on Collins Avenue in South Beach is very trendy, and if you're a fan of the Kardashian sisters, they have a dress shop located at 815 Washington Avenue trendily-named, Dash.
As Toni mentioned, there are a lot of hip boutiques on Lincoln Road. However, most of them are overpriced, but many will negotiate, as Christy learned, writing her Girls Guide to Shopping.

I'm probably not the most trendy person but I do like Lucky Brand and I believe there is one on Lincoln Road, there clothes are good if you can get them on sale. And my favorite pairs of jeans that have lasted the longest have all been Lucky Brand Jeans.

Hi Frosty,
I agree with Gus and Toni..the trendiest places to shop that are affordable are Zara and Urban Outfitters. Sometimes Anthropologie has some cute things too. If you want some dressy items I'd check out BCBG. If you want to buy a splurge item I'd go to Atrium, which is my favorite store and carries everything, but in this bad economy is out of reach for most people unless they're having a sale. For super cheap, super trendy items that will last one season I like Forever 21. Is the forever 21 now open on Lincoln Rd? For shoes head to Steve Madden.
I was watching the Kim and Kourtney take Miami and they're looking for a new location for DASH.

I don't watch that show but I'm not surprised. It's in a terrible location.
Yes Forever 21 and H&M are now open on Lincoln Road.

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
Yeah there's really no need to spend your whole day getting to Aventura Mall and back unless you find there's a store there that has a specific item you can't get elsewhere.
Otherwise between the Macy's and the new chain stores on Lincoln road and the boutiques and designer stores on Collins Ave. you'll be fine. When you get here, I'd suggest walking down Collins from where you are to 5th street to see what's there. Then walking Lincoln Road after. Much nicer and better exercise than sitting on a bus all day. Probably the same number of homeless people.

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
If you are looking for good prices take also a look at TJ Maxxx and Ross (near 5th Street Alton Road) there is a good chance to find something good.(jeans,shoes...and so on..)
but..anyway..the best for shopping is Aventura Mall ;-)

Re: Trendy shopping in South Beach?
There's not a bus to Dolphin Mall from South Beach. It's also a terrible mall full of ghetto people and equally ghetto stores. Seriously I know people who live a mile from it and will drive 45 minutes to NOT go there. Don't waste your vacation going to Dolphin Mall.
If you want that giant retail outlet mall experience take the shuttle up to Sawgrass Mills Mall from South Beach. It costs like $25, but an exponentially more pleasant shopping experience than Dolphin Mall.
However, the shopping in South Beach is pretty good as it is. Unless you're here for a week or so not worth wasting a nice day indoors shopping.
