Gansevoort Sold
As people may know, the Gansevoort, formerly the Rooney, is a hotel and 2 separate condo developments under a common ownership/management (shady lane partners). There was financial trouble and some sort of receivership deal last year.
The place has just been sold: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/02/0...d-renamed.html
Readers may recall how found I am of the hotel and how I considered buying a condo at thr Roney section of the complex. We even had a meet-up on the rooftop!
Here's hoping for a bright future for what was one Miami Beach's premiere address!

I think Roney never used his first name but was always called " N.B.T."

Good info Fred.
My Space Shuttle espionage drone is glad you went with the other option.
Ground control reports it's less complicated to spy in SoFi.

That is a great hotel I have a friend who has been working there for some time I might have to check if he's still employed now.

Whatever they do, they shouldn't change the name.

Re: Gansevoort Sold
The Perry is a temporary name, until a new Hotel flag is awarded. They plan an extensive renovation, and will relaunch in 2013. Gansevoort will certainly not be the new name.
I suspect it will be big hotel brand not already on the beach, like Westin or Four Seasons.

If they're going to keep old names, they should have kept the original name of "Roney Palace" like the rest of the condo complex, and never switched to Gansevoort for the hotel. The new place might as well go back to "Roney Palace."
Keep the classic names.

How about the name "Under Construction"? It's been under renovation more times than I can count in 15 years. Could it really need another lift...

Re: Gansevoort Sold
It needs a great deal of work!
Shady lane partners, allegedly, was bleeding the condo association dry to keep up the hotel. That, coupled with the turn down in the housing market, a number of foreclosures, and inability to significantly sell the 'paridiso' wing, made for a heap-o-trouble.
That being said,I still love the place!
