Smile Arriving from Oversees - private Condo in the Shelborne?

    Hi

I wanted to aks what you think of the Shelborne Hotel? I am coming from Europe for my internship next week and will stay for the first 3 weeks in the Shelborne, 18th Collins, in a private Condo on the 6th floor.
What is the reputation of the Shelborne Hotel and is the 6th floor far enough to have quietness (no slaming doors and no parties at the bottom?) and a non smoking atmosphere?
I also hope to use the internet in the hotel for free?

    Cheers
    Anja

I don't know about the Shelborne but good luck on the slamming doors bit, I've never stayed in a hotel where they've cared about that. Six floors up should be calm enough from any partyers below - but parties do get LOUD in the hotels and the Winter Music Conference is coming up.

What is the Winter Music Conference?
And when is the spring break?

Any more thoughts on the Shelborne? Is this a nice place to stay?

The Shelborne CAN be an OK place to get an inexpensive room in a central location in south beach. Each room is owned by individual owners, so there is considerable variation in room quality, so I can't say for sure how any particular room may be. If you're renting from a private owner please send a link to their webpage or PM me their name and room number. The sixth floor should be far enough to be away from noise from below. In addition to asking about smoking, ask the owner if any construction is ongoing on that floor.

I checked a few reviews on the Shelbourne some weeks back on tripadvisor. Reviews were mixed for the hotel. For the private rooms, it all depends on the owner. If you're on the sixth floor, you probably don't need to worry about noise on the floor level. The location is in the middle of most of the action and there are plenty of crowds in the area.

Winter Music Conference is a house-techno music festival held in Miami. There's the Ultra Music Festival, which is pretty big, and then there are tons of smaller parties throughout the city. Basically, every fancy hotel is organizing a party. The pool will probably be packed that week.

Spring Break is typically the first 2-3 weeks in March. By the third week it's tapering off a bit. But the first 2 weeks it's full on SB madness.

    WMC is March 16-25.
