Default New Faena Miami Beach Set To Open Next Week

the new, upscale Faena Hotel is scheduled to open up next week from what I have been reading. I visited the Faena Universe in Buenos Aires years ago--though I did not stay there, the hotel grounds and bar area were impressive. I suspect the same will be the case in Miami as well.....looks like they will have 2 restaurants--one an Argentine Grill and the other Asian inspired....I am coming back to Miami Beach next month and will definitely check this place out....I will not be staying here given the hefty price tags (rooms starting at north of $800/night in April, more than that for the next few months) but I definitely want to see what it's all about and might even splurge for a drink or a bite to eat.

I'm looking forward to it as well. That and the Edition have definitely transformed a once dilapidated Mid Beach area. Now its booming with development..

If only my clients listened to me in 2012!!

I LOVE The Edition.....though Matador no longer serves lunch and they have really cracked down and limited their gorgeous pool areas to guests only (knew they'd catch on eventually).

I love the Edition also, Basement Ice skating is so fun, and the lobby is beautiful.

I saw some people check in there on Facebook, but maybe it's just previews?

I am not in Miami this week, back on New Yrs. Perhaps it did open this week.

They are definitely open--just called and spoke with them.....they just sent me their menu for Veranda--see attached....do not think I will be ordering their Corvain wine 3 oz (or higher) selection by the glass, not at upwards of $210 a glass--or their 3, 3oz flights of Bordeaux for $ 950 (unless Matt is buying).

Geezz....yeah I will definitely not be going there without an invite. Prices around here are getting insane.

Who pays these prices?! I totally feel like I cannot afford anything in my own city. Then all the normal people leave, leaving no one to run these over priced services. Ridiculous.

Schmucks with money to waste pay those prices...I may check out the property anyways when I am in town next week (if only to check out the art collection)...might even buy 1 beer (a steal compared to the wine prices), though I would not be surprised to find myself as the only one in the bar.....looks like the place to go if you have Lafitte Rothschild tastes on a Dom Perignon budget.

So I checked out the grounds of the Faena. Impressive lobby, if not a bit over the top. Outside, towards the pool area, I saw the $18M gold plated mammoth enclosed in a bullet proof and hurricane resistant glass case. Guess it's the owners way of saying my dick is bigger than yours.

A security guard insisted that I take a tour of the spa, which I did. Upon entering, there is a huge block of brown soap from which they use a cheese slicer and hand you a couple of pieces to use in the shower. They then have various rooms including a hammam spa, steam room, ice room, and one more. There are numerous massage rooms highlighted by a suite where one can purchase the 6 hour couples "art of love" package complete with champagne and lunch for 'only' $2500 (Jess...still there?).

I toured the new Asian restaurant, Pao(?), which had a red unicorn statue, and they were working on their theatre which will host live plays and music.

Won't be staying here at $900/night but glad I checked it out and they will have a separate art center in a building across the street.

I had dinner with some fashion blogger last week who was raving about it. My guess is she stayed for free.
