Default Are hotels on Biscayne Boulevard safe?

    Hi everyone.

I will be in Miami for at least 2 months and it seems that my company will book a hotel reservation in Biscayne Boulevard. I don't have any information about Biscayne Boulevard, so could you please provide me an information.. I mean is it safe place and close to entertaining areas? and what about the public transportation?

Any information and recommendation would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ozgen

Hi, Ozgen, welcome to Miami Beach 411. Thanks for posting your question here.

Biscayne Boulevard, huh?.. There is nothing much to do in that area.

Do you know the name of the hotel your company is planning to book?

Frankly, most of the hotels on Biscayne Boulevard that are north of 41 street are pretty scary. Some people might even call that area, "Miami's Red Light District".

I suggest staying on the beach, or in downtown, if possible.

What are your dates of stay?

How much do you want to spend?

I'll be happy to search some nearby areas to find some comparable rates for you.

It depends on where. Biscayne is vey long. We stayed at one on biscayne that we loved!!! But we had a rental car. There wasn't much close by.

Hi everybody! Candice, the Hotel Urbano (there's only one, that I know of), is not on Biscayne but off Brickell and S. Miami Avenue. That's actually a very nice area, although as you mentioned, not much to do around there; however, it is very centrally located. Thanks for the tip on the Urbano. That's a relatively new hotel.

    Ozgen, welcome!

I personally would not stay on Biscayne Boulevard north of the Omni area, especially without a car. While it is trendy and up-and-coming in a few areas, much of it is still seedy and sketchy. Many run down hotels and motels are known as dens for drug dealers and hookers. I can't imagine why your employer would want to put you up there for two months, unless it's in a private condo situation in one of those nice enclaves by the bay.

However, Biscayne Boulevard starts downtown north of the Miami river and as Candice pointed out, it's rather long. It stops being "Biscayne" somewhere up by Miami Shores.

There are hotels in downtown Miami too, including fabulous ones like the EPIC and the Intercontinental ... it all depends on what section you're in. I mean two months in the EPIC would actually be quite nice! So in theory, your employer might be referring to that section of Biscayne. I think that's a better choice in terms of quality neighborhood.

Let us know if you have any more questions and please follow up if you can.
