Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
Hi everyone.
I am new to the forum. I live at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Originally from the Boston area, and have been in NH for the last 3 years. It's an awesome to place to live with four beautiful seasons, but the winter is a little too long for this girl. I am heading to SoBe on February 21st for a month. SO EXCITED!!
I rented a condo at the Flamingo (south tower). Looking forward to hitting the gym and pool!

Thanks for the warm welcome Jess!
I just drove back in four wheel drive fom dinner. We got about six or seven inches of snow today. Love the snow, but will be ready for some warmer weather come the end of February.

My boyfriend is from NH so I know what your winters are like. He also went to Miami in search of warmer weather, luckily for me There's only so much snow a person can put up with.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
I think you'll like the flamingo. I live in the center tower, don't know what the South tower is like in the apartments, just know that it's mostly vacation rentals. Downstairs @ the South tower there is a bar/restaurant called the Local where ladies drink for free every night after 9pm or something like that. The flamingo fitness is a great place to work out and meet people at classes. The staff there are the best!! The south pool is closed for renovations right now but the north pool is good to relax.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
Wait, ladies drink free at that bar at Flamingo EVER NIGHT? For how long? Like for an hour or all night? I can't believe I hadn't heard about this.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
I'm not exactly sure what the times are..... i def. know it starts at 9pm, so it's either 9-12 or 9-2pm and yes it's every night!

Do you know when the south pool will reopen? Thanks!

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
unfortunately, not for another couple months from what I heard.... It's too bad cause it's the biggest pool! Everyday on weekdays it alternates from pump and burn (light weight/cardio class) to spin classes at 9am. All cool classes w/ great instructors!

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
Thanks. I love cardio/weight classes and spinning.
The rental agent I am working with at the Flamingo thought the pool will be open by Feb 1st. I wonder if she was just saying that, or if what you heard is correct.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
Hi NHgirly,
Welcome to the forums. Probably Gableskid is right and the agent didnt get the date well down. But South Beach has a lot to do and see, therefore, you're probably not going to spend a lot of time at the pool.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
I can try to double check for you on the pool, but in all honesty it doesn't look like it will be done by Feb 1st/2 weeks.... Things can take a bit longer than suggested around here....but you never know (fingers crossed)!
I agree with Mario, South Beach has alot to do and see, so I'm sure there will be many other things around. I'm born and raised in Miami (shocking LOL)..... so I'm also going to add that there is alot to do and see on the mainland as well if you ever want to venture out.

If you wouldn't mind checking on the pool that would be great. I definitely want to get around and check out the Miami area. This is all new for me, so I am super excited.
Thanks again, C

Even if it's closed, the gym at the Flamingo, to me anyway, was always its saving grace. Go you've got that.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
I spoke to someone who works in the building and they are expecting the south pool to re-open sometime between beginning to mid March. That's all they could tell me!

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
I just moved here from Boston for 3 months. I'm living in the Flamingo south tower too. I love it here so far, sure beats winters in Boston, and this building is amazing. I got a place overlooking the pool not knowing it was under construction, hope they finish it soon it's a bit of an eye sore now! The north tower pool is open and very nice, but the south tower one is prettier and it would be nice to look out over.

Re: Heading to South Beach for a MONTH!
The two pools are close together so I don't think it would be a big deal to use the other one. A month hitting the pool and gym and staying in Miami sounds perfect! The only negative of the Flamingo is it's kind of far from Collins Ave and the beach.
