    Default New Frenchy in Miami

Hey guys, just moved in Miami a few weeks ago and as I read in a couple of posts here it is tough to meet new people if you got a 9 to 5 job here.
So here I am, directly from Paris to South Beach, and would love to meet some new people here. If you guys do hold events, or meet on a regular basis at bars or such I would love to come over and discover new places and people.
Forgot to give a little feedback and I think the website is very helpful, lot of activity and people seem to be very friendly to anyone's topics and inquiries. Also very easy to naviguate and find what you want here so good job.

    A bientot.

bento, bienvenu! I have one word for you: Twitter! These days it seems social networking online is the best way to connect with people and groups. Blogging is another way. Start a blog about a Parisian's experience in Miami. Then, make friends with other bloggers and go to meet-ups. Or just become a regular in here! We have get-togethers every so often.

It seems that the way the world connects these days is very different than it was just 10 years ago, when you got to know people by just hanging out at a neighborhood bar. You can meet people in bars here, but they tend to disappear with the morning sun.

    Hi Bento! Bienvenu!

There are several events coming up!

Doug is very right about hanging around twitter. It is a great way to connect to events. Once you join twitter, you should follow the South Florida "Tweetup" account for info about events. (A Tweetup is just a "meet up" organized on twitter.)

I don't know if you have a car or not, but the Sun-Sentinel is having a tweetup in Pembroke Pines tomorrow and the Miami Herald is doing one in September. (The Miami New Times just had one last week.)

If you want the details on these or need help on signing up to twitter, let me know.

Also, have you checked meetup.org for other groups?

    Hey Guys,

Thanx for the help and quick answer.
Tere, I am enjoying Miami a lot but made a few bad choices such a lodging in South Beach in the Fl...go, where it is probably good to go once in a while but with work it is really tough to keep up.
The rest of Miami is a great surprise to me, people aren't not nice as its said a lot around here, they are just not too superficial. So you got very true people which are sometimes nice and sometimes plain rude, but at least true..and the city feels amazingly relaxing..
I do have a car by the way so the Miami Herald event would be great...
As for twitter, I am going to concentrate on that maybe later tonight but I really gotta get back to work right now. But thanks for the tips and will definitely come back here for you guys advice
    Take care
    Ben

A great way to meet people in Miami is by joining a sport for social purposes. Check out Sports Leagues, Tournaments, Social Events & More!. They have a bunch of sports that are played at Flamingo Park on South Beach. I'd say that is the #1 way to meet people here. Second way, is just being out and about. Just going to Publix, you can meet people. Whenever I go, I speak to one or two people I don't know.

    Hi Ben,

If you don't want to just meet people at bars, head to the beach between 6th and 8th along Ocean. SUndays is especially good for joining in on a game of volleyball. All levels are welcome.

There's a great French bistro place along Espanola Way you may want to check out. Once someone asked me on a date at the grocery store, it's filled with locals.
