Re: Miami Florida 2010 - Luka Magnotta
I'm reviving this thread in light in light of the news that Luka is wanted for murder. Note to everyone, especially those new to South Beach: Please only go to a meetup if it's an Official Meetup or if some of the regulars are attending/putting the meetup together. Do not meet up with someone who only has 2 posts. They are a complete stranger!
On a side note, I have met up with a new member before, but she was a girl and I PM'd her.

I found this thread from the "Vacuum Bag Kitten Killer Evidence Document", which can be downloaded from abproject.org/docs/vbkk-ed.pdf
Apparently this guy used different forums, social sites and screen names to shape his 'image'. Just your run of the mill head-case. He didn't actually move to Miami, and chances are that's not his car.

Good advice. You still want to be careful even if it's supposed to be a girl. There could be cases where that girl is not a girl. Anyone can make up any screen name. A guy can call himself "Becky", and still call himself Becky in a PM as well. Probably best to take along other friends that you know for a first personal meeting of the new person.
Stay safe out there everyone.

Police in Berlin seems to have picked up this guy now.
Berlin police have confirmed they have arrested Canadian fugitive Luka Rocco Magnotta in Berlin.
A spokesman told the Canadian Press that Mr. Magnotta was arrested at about 2 p.m. German time today.

Hoppie, thanks for breaking the news!
For anyone interested, there is another thread that was started by Luka going on here.

Hmm, the guy's a deluded narcissistic serial killer, he sounds just like the main character from "American Psycho" (except that he's Canadian).

Re: Miami Florida 2010 - Luka Magnotta
The "American Psycho" image was something Luka was trying to convey. In the video he posted online, I've heard that you can hear the "American Psycho" soundtrack, playing in the background. But unlike the wealthy main character in the movie, his life was not as glamours as he made it out to be to us.
I'm reading that in In 2007, three years before posting here, he filed for bankruptcy in Canada. At the time, he listed his ocupation as "server" and reported to have no monthly income. His assets included a 1995 Ford Explorer and a life insurance policy valued at $1,000 that names his mother as beneficiary. His list of debts included such mundane things as...
- $800 to the City of Toronto for parking tickets.
- $500 owed to Bally's Total Fitness in Scarborough.
- $200 for unpaid toll charges on Highway 407.
- $1,400 in cell phone bills.
- $2,500 on back rent for an apartment
Luka Magnota reminds me of Andrew Cunanan, the spree killer who murdered Giannini Versace in 1997. They were both enamored with celebrity and had lives that were going no where, so they lashed out and committed horrible crimes that would make them infamous.

I think your Andrew Cunanan analogy is spot on.

Thanks, Glenn. I wouldn't be surprised if he found Miami Beach 411 by reading Matt's article that I linked to in my previous post. People have said Luka was fascinated by serial killers.
I think it's great that he was finally apprehended inside an Internet cafe. I wonder what he was browsing at the time of his arrest?

You got one guess ......
The internet cafe worker busted him looking up Luka Magnotta.
He had spent about an hour at the nondescript cafe perusing Internet news accounts of his exploits, according to a cafe worker.

This guy had a death wish

I read that he was looking at news accounts of himself on the internet and someone in the cafe realized he was looking at himself.
And remember that severed head the joggers found on the trail underneath the Hollywood sign last February? Police now think that may have been him, as well. They found out he was in LA at the time. Too close for comfort!

He escaped to France after the police were looking for him. Shame on you, CDG airport police. You should have arrested him then.
