Need Help: Seeking good Gynecologist & Baby Hospital
Hello all,
We've lived here a year but still find ourselves driving back to W. Palm to see my wife's gynecologist. No one has really recommended anyone for us to go see down here on the beach so I'm reaching out to the community to see who is the best gynecologist and where the best place to have a baby delivered (We're planning to start a family in the very near future).
We watched a Kardashian episode where Kourtney went to Mt. Sinai and visited a gynecologist there. The reviews on the hospital seemed great so we think that would be a great place.
Any thoughts or help from long time Sobe residents would be great....
Post or PM is fine.
Thanks!

A friend of mine had her baby delivered at Mt. Sinai with a great ob/gyn. She only stopped seeing her because she moved up to WPB -- the opposite of you! I forgot the doctor's name, but I'll PM it to you when my friend gets back to me.

Re: Need Help: Seeking good Gynecologist & Baby Hospital
I had my baby at Jackson Memorial and all my care through the UM Health System. Though it was top notch care in terms of a teaching hospital with excellent physicians, it is also...hmmm...how can I say this properly....kinda ghetto. I had my baby there, no complaints. But I am planning on having my next kiddo at Mt. Sinai. So, if you find a good ob there, let me know!

I've heard nothing but bad about Mt Sinai from fellow physicians. It used to be one of the best hospitals in Dade County many years ago. I rotated through there about 10 years ago, underwhelming is how i would describe it. Having said that, if you find an excellent OB/GYN it should be fine. And on the Beach it's your only option anyway. You're too far from Miramar, but every other woman I've met since moving here has had their baby at Memorial Miramar. Or Hotel Miramar as we call it. It looks and feels like a boutique hotel. All private rooms, nice staff. But it's a drive for you.

We are fortunate to have really good health insurance and I felt like Jackson was good, it really was, but kinda like going to a clinic. A clinic is fine and usually good care, but we do have a sort of Cadillac health plan, so I think we will opt to flex that next time. Having a baby is no joke. The more comfortable you can be, the better.

SoBe, I sent you a PM a couple of days ago.
Nefro ... really? Thanks for sharing that tip! A relative of mine had a baby at South Miami Hospital and I was actually quite impressed by her private room.
Laurie ... no kidding! ;-)

Hi Maria, the comments I hear about Mt Sinai are general, not specifically about the L&D ward. So I guess take it with a grain of salt.

Just jumping on this thread now, as I'm also looking for a good OB GYN on the beach for what will be my first pregnancy. I know Mt Sinai is my best, most convenient bet...
Maria, can you possibly send me a PM as well with that recommended doctor's details?
Or if anyone else has a specific doctor they can recommend, please let me know!

Hello!
I recently moved to Miami Beach and am looking for an ob-gyn.
Also, I would like to know for delivery hospital what is the best: Mount-Sinai, Mercy Hospital or any other ?
If anybody has recommendations, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!

Re: Need Help: Seeking good Gynecologist & Baby Hospital
We had our first child at South Miami hospital and my wife's gyn was Dr. Michelle Starke. She was awesome and hospital was awesome. Had our 2nd child at Jackson, due to some health conditions and so the specialists were located there. Delivery was great. Care was great. Physicians were great. Hospital is VERY ghetto, although considered one of the best in the country. Would choose S. Miami if we had a choice.
