Advice on re-locating for a young female londoner!
Hi everyone!
I have a place to stay for a few weeks in south beach as my dad's friends have a place there, at south point. But the job that I think I will have may be in fort lauderdale and I need some info on public transport and how I would get there from south beach. Also any advice on getting a job in south beach itself would be very welcome! and any advice for a young person wanting to socialise and start a new way of life for a little while!
Feeling a bit nervous so a lot of encouragement and advice would be very much appreciated
THANKYOUUUU

Hi Zoe, welcome to 411
Firstly, are you starting your new job straight away when you arrive? And you will be living in South Pointe but commuting to Ft Lauderdale? If so, you are going to have to use a car, there is no other way to get there. Fort Lauderdale is a city in another county next to Miami, and will take a good 30 minutes without traffic to drive to. It really is not possible to do it by public transportation.
What job do you have that you could also do it in South Beach?

I will just second what Jess said, if you are working in Ft. Lauderdale and don't have a car, you'll need to be living in Ft. Lauderdale. Or get a car.
You CAN take a bus from South Pointe to Government Center in downtown Miami, then take the I-95 Express bus north to Lauderdale, which drops you in the middle of downtown FTL. That's going to be at least 90 minutes each way, not counting however long it takes you to get from the Downtown FTL stop to wherever you are working. Pretty miserable.
What kind of job are you looking for in South Beach? jobs here are incredibly hard to come by as we have some of the highest unemployment in the country and a constant influx of people coming here. Typically you'll need some sort of skill that this population doesn't already have.
