Re: Short term rentals and location advice
Hi, Kalimist. Welcome to Miami Beach 411.
I'd say Craigslist is probably the best site to find direct owner listings. Many of the vacation rentals on VRBO and TripAdvisor are also to direct owners.
How "short term" are you looking for?
When are you planning to visit?
What is your budget?
I know a few places, but I don't want to waist your time if they're not in your parameters.

Re: Short term rentals and location advice
I know of a place that has a wide range of furnished, and not furnished units. There are different sizes available, and it is right on the beach. I'll PM you the link. They offer short term rentals, and also 7mo+ leases.

The place I mentioned their most expensive units are at the minimum of your buget for a pretty good size place, and that includes all utilities and itis a quiet area.

Dylan, since rk opened the flood gates on vacation rental websites, will you please share link to the property you and your mom own, and tell us a little more about what makes it special?

Thanks Gus here is a ling for the place and a small description. http://www.kpoceansidehotel.com/ This is a great place it is on Hollywood's boardwalk, and it is a nice laid back area. There is tons to do here as far as bars and restaurants, but you are still secluded enough that you get the peace an quite you need to stay sane. Also the location is very close to the arts, and cultural area in Hollywood. You really have to see it to appreciate the area I myself am shocked at how conveniently located I am in regards to the city, and all the shopping and services I could want. And the best part of it I am about 500ft from my doorstep to the water line at low tide.

I really like Hollywood Beach. It feels really laid back and less crowded than South Beach. I also like that it's right next to some great parks and nature preserves, and also fairly close to the Dania Beach pier. I think this is where I'd like to stay on my next trip out!

Doug is right I am not even a mile away from 2 parks and a Wildlife preserve and just up the road there is a special low light, low traffic rule being enforced because it is where the baby sea turtles are being hatched and and crawling into the water it is great.

Dylan, you are the co-owner of Kastor and Pollux? Congratulations and good luck.
What's the history behind the name, and why K instead of C?

rk, Dylan's off today, but I thought I should clarify that the hotel is actually owned by 2 of his mother's friends and Dylan and his mother are helping to manage it. The current name is the first names of the two friends who own it.

Well RK
Thanks for the good wishes I am not a co-owner unfortunately but I am an on-site manager for the location. I am in charge of screening applicants and general maintenance and some repairs. It is really a sweet gig. I have to hang out by the pool, or Broadwalk (actually not Boardwalk that was not a typo) and take care of this place. The area is great.
I have some long days, but I have a cool ocean right outside my front door to cool off at. You should come see the area some time RK I'm sure by then I'll be a regular at one of the fine drinking establishments here.

As for the owners, they are Greek, and are twins. They could relate to the Greek Mythological characters that were Castor and Pollux. However the owners are not male they are two sisters. So I think they changed the C to a K to give it a twist. But I am familiar with Castor and Pollux now thanks to them.

Re: Short term rentals and location advice
Thanks Dylan. I became familiar with Castor and Pollux watching the sky. They are the two brightest stars in Gemini and very prominent in the spring sky late at night. Castor is Alpha-Gemini and Pollux is Beta-Gemini (which is the reverse of normal naming convention which calls for the brightest star in a constellation to be alpha - Pollux is brighter than Castor).
Very good point about spelling the Hollywood Broadwalk correctly.

Re: Short term rentals and location advice
I know its a bit late for the comment, but I am new to this page and miami beach. There is a company with several very well furnished and priced, they even offer hotel like services, rlmiami com.
Cheers,

Re: Short term rentals and location advice
Thanks rk I did not know that those were the names of stars in the Gemini constellation but it sure makes sense to me now. And about Hollywood Broadwalk, I even get weird looks from LOCALS if I say it Broad instead of Board... oh well.
