    Default 30 year old South African professional

    Hi all,

    I'm looking 2 relocate to Miami from South Africa. What do I need 4 citizenship, finding work, best place 2 stay? If there are any South Africans please share your experiences?

    Hi and welcome to 411 forums. Thanks for posting your question.

    When are you looking to move to Miami and what makes you want to live here? It sounds like you are starting afresh if you need visa and a job. I say visa as you cannot just gain US citizenship if you have not lived here for a certain period of time.

    Have you looked into obtaining a visa to work here from South Africa?

    First things first, you will need a work visa. Which is hard to come by unless you have a company to sponsor you. Do you have that? Any family here?

    Thanks Jess for the prompt response! I'm indeed looking to start afresh. Don't have family, just a friend in New York. I'm an accountant by profession. I have applied for several positions at a company in Miami. I'm looking to move with my daughter. I'll try the visa route.

    Definitely go with the visa route as living here without one is not advisable. If you have a profession, that will certainly help. Start by applying for jobs at big companies that can sponsor you, that's a good start.
