Default How do I find a furnished sublet / short-term in South Beach ASAP?

Let's cut to the chase. I have until Nov. 9h to find a furnished short-term rental in SOBE and need to know if this is even feasible.

I am not looking for a palace but don't want to live in a dump. I need a studio/apartment that is decent, safe, clean and priced fairly for the market. I will be in Miami for work so I can't be at party central.

A friend in SOBE will act as my middle man and check things out but he has no idea what sublets should cost and/or how to go about finding them. I am not having much luck with craigslist and similar sights.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi LizWiz,

    Basically, your options are:

    1. Craigslist sublets section (which you said wasn't working for you)
    2. Miami New Times Classified
    3. Miami Herald Classified
    4. Walking Around the Neighborhood looking for signs
    5. Word of Mouth
    6. Bulletin board at Whole Foods aka Wild Oats on Alton Road & 9th
    7. Real Estate Agents who do property management (Regatta, Chrisken, Keystone, etc.)
    8. Posting in the MB411 forums (which you're doing now...)

Other than that, I can't think of anything! I know finding a place can be stressful. I wish you luck!

What are the dates between which you want to sublet the apartment?

    Welcome LizWiz!

From afar- Craigslist because it's free to post and people are cheap but beware of the dreaded spam posts. Places that sound too good to be true and with links to other sites are usually spam.

If you're here: there's nothing better than your Chevro-LEGS.

Hi lizWiz, welcome to the forums! Doug & Suzy have already given you excellent suggestions. You say you will be working in Miami? Do you mean that literally? Will you have a car to take you on/off the beach or will you be using public transport? You shouldn't necessarily limit yourself to sublets on the beach if you are working on the mainland.

    Hi, LizWiz, welcome to MiamiBeach411.

Have you considered living with a roommate?

Furnished apartments in South Beach are not cheap.

Since you're only looking for a short-term rental, seems like you'd have better luck finding a person with an apartment who needs a roommate.

Check out the vacation rentals section on Craiglist or vacation rental sites. It's what I did. Many will give you a discount off their listed price if you rent it out for a couple months.

You can also check out www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals by Owner). They have mostly weekly and daily rates quoted but there are some monthly rentals available. The owner of a place I stayed for a week when I came into town was asking $1500/mo for a one bedroom furnished off Euclid and 15th which isnt a bad deal. The one drawback is that parking is a nightmare even if you are provided with a parking pass.
