    I have to give a visitor's update here:

    I really enjoyed house sitting your new house but granted it is missing some of the charm from your old neighborhood.

    These are things the new neighborhood/house are missing compared to the old one:

    A) An endless supply of used condoms on the street and sidewalk where I park my car

    B) Crazy leaks when it rains

    C) Gang murder warning signs, of course

    D) Non-stop, wall shaking booty music from a car outside

    E) The Parking Nazi across the street

    F) Ants

    I wonder how those new tenants are doing.

    Well, my last day of work in Houston is officially Friday 31st Aug! Yeehaw as we say around here. The New company wants me to stay in Houston at their offices here the 1st week of Sept, NY the second week, back to Houston the 3rd week, then I suppose the 4th week of Sept I am free to make my move over to Miami. So, hopefully wife and I should be kicking about by end of Sept! Their new offices on Brickell Ave. will not be ready on 1 Oct as originally planned, they are a month late. Gee, I feel like I never left Latin America!

    No storms please!

    I'll second that. Even still, we should remind everyone hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th.

    The good news: the amount of rainfall decreases, the later in the year. It rains about 60% less in November compared to September (see: average air, water & rainfall).

    But hey, the topic of this discussion is selling a house.

    Tito, did you sell your house in Houston? If so, was it a single family home, townhouse, condo?

    Has anyone one else bought or sold a property?

    One thing I learned: you actually sit with the seller face-to-face at the closing. Had I known this, I may have negotiated differently.

    I am leasing a home that the owners originally wanted to sell but the markey turned so they went for renting it out, which was good for me and them I think.

    The market in houston has been downward for over a year now, but it is a huge market, some 60,000 units for sale at any given moment.

    I'm glad i chose not to buy!

    I hope to be sitting in the cat bird seat when I get to Miami.

    No, she had the house reappraised during the height of the real estate boom, and took a home equity loan out on the home's perceived value.

    The house is worth much less now than when she originally purchased it.

    She stuck owing $300,000+ for a house that worth about $165,000.
