Default Ft Lauderdale vs South Beach

Ok guys so i been hearing good things from both places and i cant decide on which one i wanna relocate to. So for what I've been hearing south beach is basically the party scene, and I'm worried that I just wont fit in..But in the other hand I really wanna get out of my shell. And the fort's canals are a beautiful site.
Can anyone give me advice?? =]

Hi, forgotten198, welcome to Miami Beach 411. Thanks for posting your question here.

In my opinion, South Beach's party reputation is overblown. Don't get me wrong. Last night, I was on Ocean Drive and it was crazy, but just a few blocks away on the residential streets, it was quiet.

If you choose to live in South Beach, try to avoid living on the numbered streets that run east and west, especially 11th Street, which is a main thoroughfare.

In my opinion, living in Ft Lauderdale vs South Beach depends on where you will be working. Do you have a job lined up?

I agree - Miami all the way! I started to research other areas in Florida and nothing comes close to Miami, they are more boring and don't have the international flavor. You will really like Miami, and I think that your job in healthcare + fluent in Spanish will get you there.

Did you find out if your CNA certification was usable in Florida?

I often recommend Ft. Lauderdale for Americans moving here, because it is much more what Americans are used to. As in, more normal and America-like.

Basically, Lauderdale is a lot easier of a place to live, but South Beach is more fun. Boils down to what you want.

And Broward isn't boring. Hard Rock is immensely popular, Lauderdale and Holylwood beach are both nice, and you have Las Olas in Downtown Lauderdale to go out to as well. I would say its comparable to Tampa insofar as nightlife. But,yeah, for pure partying and fun it isn't going to compare to Miami. Nothing in America save for maybe New York does.
