Default Moved into our new Apartment

We are now officially in our new apartment.

We were going to pick one in Waverly, when one came available at The Yacht Club at Portofino.

The views are amazing of both the bay and the beach. The kitchen is decent sized compared to the tiny kitchen at Waverly. There was no way we couldn't have picked it.

    Here is our bay view:

    And our beach view:

I know other people have said that Atlantic Broadband was slow, but they came out the next day after I called them. Assuming your apartment is already wired you can pick up box and cable modem at their office in North Bay Village which I actually did, but they needed to come out to install cable cards in my Tivo.

    Awesome views, Pelle.

Thank you for sharing the pictures with us.

With your view of the beach, you could start your own surf report.

What's an apartment at the Yacht Club, with views like that cost?

Thanks all. I'm not sure I should put exact rent figures in public but range wise it's somewhere between 2k and 3k. I'll tell you the exact rent over beers next time I see you.

I can say that it was a lot less than what we paid in San Francisco. Not that you could compare the view we had of crack heads fighting with this particular view. The apartment itself is much nicer as well.

Similar apartments in SF would be at least 3 times as much.

Btw. I also posted a little story on my blog about why we moved to Miami.

Wow, I had no idea you could have an apartment with direct bay and ocean views. I guess you can watch the sun rise and set! Is it a penthouse? How many sq ft? 2 bed/2bath? Building ammenities?

I'm a realtor so I'm allowed to ask nosy questions.

    Hi South of 5th,

Since you are involved in the building, would you know of any 2 bedrooms available mid June? We will arrive in Miami around then and start looking. My husband starts work first week of July, so window of opportunity is narrow. Our budget is between $2500-$3000. If you can help that would be great.

    Thanks

    kurgy

I enjoyed reading your rationales, Pelle. You helped me remember what I love about Miami. I've lived on the West Coast, too, and it has its charms, but there's something very untamed and exotic about Miami you can't find anywhere else in the US. Enjoy your time here!

Thanks Doug. I got asked "Why Miami" so many times in SF with faces twisted in disbelief, so I felt I had to attempt to explain.

For those that are interested here is a site with the Floor plans to the Yacht Club.

    Hi Kurgy,
It is really hard to know what rents are, many variables. MLS has all the units for rent
which side of the building do you want to be on, city side or bay side
also lower floors generally are less expensive
if you are looking for a one bedroom, we have one available on the bay side 26th floor, fully furnished.
If you would like I can put you in touch with our realtor. She lives in the building and has been in the business for many years.

I will tell you the Yacht Club is an awesome building, great staff, excellent management and close to everything you need. Plus an easy commute to the mainland.

Congrats to both of you! I'm glad you guys moved here because now I have two extra groovy friends :-)

I know someone who lives in the Murano Grande (just south of you) and the views are also breathtaking. I just love to sit on the balcony and take it all in.

One of the rooms is completely surrounded by glass, so it feels like you're floating in space.

There is something to be said about those views. It's so peaceful up in those higher floors! Watching the tides come in and out is like a meditation. Look at the bay on a calm day and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's like the water is breathing.

Hope you guys enjoy it to the max!

Plus, there's Monty's right around the corner. What more could one ask for?

Oh! And in the summer, you get to see the T-storms roll in. It's always impressive!
