Mirna, that is a good point. It's great money on the short-term, but it can be very stressful over time.

Not to take away from our PG rating but I am LOL as this makes me wonder how much a stripper at Club Madonna makes! %-P

Gus, the place is not a secret, but I'd rather to keep it in private.

Any place in Good place in SoBe or Brickell Ave. are really to make money. We should ask White Dade how much he make.

Manola, I am sure the strippers make really good money. It really easy get money from drunk people.

Hmmm, we got a section devoted to sex, porn conventions pictures pushing 10,000 page views, and a wily wordsmith with a sex colum and website called Sex and the Beach. This doesn't sound sound very PG to me.

LOL, Gus ... just keeping it family-friendly! Hey that's great that the porn convention is generating so many hits. I still get a dozen page loads from your Girls Gone Wild post.

I want to write a funny post called Club HoDonna. I guess I should go do some research on the skankiest block of Washington Avenue. Can I get a press pass to the strip joint?

I understand, Mirna. We don't want just anyone snatching up those $700 a night gigs. Got to keep that for Members only.

Yes, Matt makes bank working just 1 night a week at a bar in Downtown Miami.

Here's some information that may be of interest. On average, when we all worked at Tuscan Steak, Servers made around $160 a night, Bussers $80, and bartenders $250.

Mirna, before you worked at Tuscan, how much did the servers make at Les Deux Fontaine?

Maria, an expose about the skankiest block of Washington Avenue is severely needed...and you're just the wordsmith to write it.

When I worked at Les Deux Fontaine (now La Hosteria Romana) I used to make $120 on a really good night and during the weekday an average of $60, it wasn't really good. That's why I started working at Tuscan Steak.

I also worked as a Bartender. I had one day I made over $400 in tips. A couple of times I received a $100 tip for a single person, nice, right?

After 3 years of working in restaurants, I am over that. I don't really know if I would go back to work as a server again.

this is all very interesting...i just hope i won't have too many problems getting hired in a good place without a visa...i could always bartend in a strip joint...I'm sure they're really open-minded in those places. In canada cocktail waitresses and barmaids in strip joints have to look sexy but they keep their clothes on... is it the same in america?

That will for sure be my last choice( allthough i'm sure they make good money), i'm really looking forward to work in a nice restaurant or a club.

Evacanada, I was told that even though the Candian social is the same amount of numbers in the US, it won't work to use it. Sorry...

You will find something. Cocktail servers don't have to take their clothes off, just dress sexy. :)

Yes, it is wholly possible to make 6 ,7 or 8 hundred dolars in a night. But you must realize that you will be working for at least 10 hours straight of very intense drink-slinging, and if you are in the Beach or at a club downtown you will most likely not get home until 8 AM. The upside is most of these places only require you work one or two nights a week, so you have five days to recover. Finding one of those is tricky. For the 25-year-old from Montreal if you are hot it own't be too tough as pretty girls can always find jobs. For the Guy, well, a lot of it is being in the right place at the right time or knowing someone who can refer you. That's about all the advice I can give. There are also lots of talented brtenders in Miami. You just have to find an in with the right managers. This may require working your way up so you make enough contacts to get in good.

Matt's right, it's possible to make hundreds of dollars a night. But like he said, until the right connections are made and you work your way up, most people will be working lunches on Lincoln Road, making $70 per shift.

I don't mean to sound discouraging, but those dream jobs are not easy find. To snag one, you must be persistent, and bring your A-game to the interview. The cream rises to the top...especially in Miami.

Hi! i have pretty common question how to find work somewhere on south beach – but the problem is, that I am a student in the University and I don't have much time to work during the business days because of my classes. So I was thinking if I can get some work in the night clubs or restaurants during the weekends? Also I speak 3 languages (but not Spanish) so if you would be able to help me with my problem I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    Hi, Konny, welcome to MiamiBeach411.

    You said...
I am a student in the University and I don't have much time to work during the business days because of my classes.
Do you have time to work at night?

Do you have any experience working in a restaurant, or bar?

Most restaurant shifts start between 4pm and 7pm, and bartending shift can start as late as 9pm.

If you can only work weekends, that will limit you.

Do you have any friends with restaurant jobs that can recommend you?

Being trilingual is definitely a plus. What languages do you speak?

Thank you for your fast reply!
Yes I can work during the night, but some of my classes end at 9pm and I already have another class at 8am, so as you can see it will be pretty tough. But Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays I have all night and day free, so I can stay up all that time (I'm pretty energetic)
I don't have any work experience in restaurants or bars, and also I don't have any friends that work in that area but you always have to start from something … ;)
I speak English, Russian and Ukrainian I don't know how does it sounds but that's all I got a chance to speak by now ;)

    Thank you,

Konny, there is a stronger Russian and Eastern European community up by Sunny Isles. Maybe you could find work in that area.

Konny, what school are you attending?

If you're going to University of Miami, it would be easier to get a job in Coconut Grove. There's a Cheesecake Factory and Cafe Tu Tu Tango that look like fun places to work.
