Default Looking for a place to rent near Jackson Hospital

Hello, fellow board members. This is my first post, so a toast to the Miami 411 forum.

Im an brazilian student of medicine, and i will be spending january and february of 2011 in an internship at jackson hospital. I know its a tad late to ask this, but does anyone have any kind of info or hint for finding a house/apartment in Miami?

Im looking for a place near the hospital or at Miami beach (because life isnt only about studying hehehe), some place that could hold 5 persons. I will be on a not so big budget.

    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely, Diegolol

    Hi and welcome to 411.

I moved your post to living and relocating as more regulars may see it and be able to help you out

Are you looking for a place for only 2 months? And you say there are 5 of you coming? Will any of you share rooms etc?

    Welcome to MB411!

Thanks for the toast. We should have a smiley with a glass of champagne. This is Miami after all!

I'm guessing that you're looking for a furnished place and for 5 people maybe a 2 or 3 bedroom? Some landlords may not allow more people than bedrooms. I still think craigslist is the best place to find apartments, despite the scams. Take a look below to access MLS listings and some great relocation advice!

Do NOT move anywhere near the hospital. That is a real bad area, and any apartment close to it is not going to be very safe. You could look a little south in Brickell and take the Metrorail. The Metrorail stops right at the hospital, so that opens up your options a lot.

But the Metrorail does not go to Miami Beach.

I'm guessing you're not going to have a car here? That makes it a little tougher as you'd probably be looking at a bus-Metrorail commute, which could take a while. And you wouldn't want to do it at weird hours, which seems to be what a lot of Med Students work. I'd recommend Brickell or somewhere near there.

Also, avoid Craigslist if you can. Contact a realtor familiar with whatever area you are trying to move into, and they can help you find something suitable.
