Default Advice on a place to land and short-term rentals

Arriving in mid-January and looking for advice on an area that would make it easy to get a good feel for the whole Miami region. Not super high-end, not ghetto. Prefer a "neighborhood" feel, or at least plenty of sidewalks. Two dogs in tow. Planning on spending 2 or 3 months getting to know the area and looking for work (writing, editing, etc.) Any companies specializing in short-term rentals? Thanks for any pointers! Apt size unimportant (in fact looking for something small and hassle-free.)

    Hi Kriskies, Welcome to MB411!

Well the first thing you can do to get a feel of the Miami area is go on the Miami City Tour.

If you're looking for a furnished, 1-3 month rental I think your best bet would be South Beach just because there's a high inventory of those properties. Unfortunately you'll be renting in high season, so the prices will reflect that. What size are your dogs?

Depending on your price range I think you might do well with an older high rise on West, like the Floridian or Mirador or, you can do a small art deco building that maybe isn't completely up to date or super close to the beach since that will bring the price down.

If you don't want South Beach there are definitely other options.

    Default thanks!

Thank you, that's a great start.....and you gotta start somewhere! Dogs are 20lbs and 45lbs. Great idea on the tour. I'll do that first.

    Default follow-up...

Any agencies that might help with previews and narrowing down the options? It would be nice to have a place to land rather than hoteling it.
