Are turbans ok in nightclubs?

If anyone has seen the movie The English Patient, you will recall one of the characters is a Sikh and there is a scene where he is washing his hair and the nurse brings him some olive oil for conditioning it. The turban can't just be slipped on and off. There's a lot of gorgeous hair! Would put any extensions salon to shame.

The English Patient is my favorite movie. Best love story ever! I was actually just thinking that when Grand J mentioned that they have long hair.

Maria - To get through TSA, they probably do the same as anyone else .... They walk through the metal detector. The turban is cloth... just another piece of clothing. If there is something like a gun under it, it will be detected. I'm not sure what they do about their kirpan, which is a very short symbolic dagger worn on a lanyard/necklace, and hanging against the chest. Maybe that is not seen as important as the no hair cutting and turban, and they leave the kirpan at home? Rav, do you have the answer?

Wow, you know your stuff lol. Yes a turban is just a piece of clothing. I dont think that the kirpan is a problem, we dont have any lol, they're usually worn by more committed sikhs. Just as you said before, we follow certain aspects of our religion but arent ready to commit just yet to other aspects.

Fabian, are there any specific clubs that you've seen sikhs in? Just need a back-up option just incase we dont get let into the ones we planned to go to, thanks.

Thanks Rav. I happen to live near and work with a lot of Sikhs. We have a very large south Asian popultion here, including Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs, from varying countries incluinding India, Afghanistan, Pakisatan, Iran, plus the Arabic Middle East. We quickly have to learn the many various types of "headwear" around these parts! (Northern VA suburbs of Washington, D.C.)
