Those guys that hand out wristbands to clubs
I'm not much of a clubber, but when I do go to teh clubs, I usually have fun. Sometimes when I'm walking around Washington and Collins, people will come up to me and ask me if I want to go to X club tonight.
Those guys appear to be giving away wrist bands to get into clubs. Why do they do this? Doesn't it costs like 30 bucks to get in to those places? Why do they just give them away? I can see why they give them away to ladies, but I'm a dude.
I usually tell them I'm not interested, but I'm now curious. When you get a wrist band from those people, can you just walk right in, or do you have to still stand in line? Am I correct in assuming those guys wok at the clubs and it's not some kind of scam?

I think that those wristbands will help you skip the line, supposedly. Or, if you go inside the club with the band, that promoter gets a commission for x amount of people that go wearing his wristband... Those are my 2 theories, but I'm not much of a clubgoer.

the bands are another gimmic or marketing tool to advertise a venue.. they do not bypass the lines and you still pay cover.

There is no such thing in Miami about bypassing lines.. promoters have pull to expedite things.. however the discretion of the door is up to the door man.. even hot girls wait in line.. it all depends on the night, the venue, and the doorman.. but i've said this before.. attitude must be postive..dress right.. and looks are important.

I used to think the wristbands also meant by passing lines. Apparently the ppl who give out the wristbands get paid for bringing ppl in and they keep track of who brought customers in by a number or something on the back of the wristband. That's what I've been told. But yup, you still pay cover and wait in line so they're kind of useless.

I dont know about in Miami, but in place like Miami and here in England when wristbands are being handed out it usually means a slightly discounted rate only if your in the club before 12!

A guy once gave us wristbands for Mansion with "free entry/admission" written on it.. what about those?

So, those wristbands work to get people pumped about getting into the "club", and when they get there after doing a line and realize there's no benefit involved, they'll just pay the cover and go inside, since they don't want to waste searching for another club. Interesting marketing ploy.

I still don't understand why they do that. They mostly give people negative vibes about the clubs. If you promise something, deliver.
