Default Beware of crime and theft inside night clubs

It's easy to let your guard down when it's late and you've had a few drinks. But people should beware of the violent crime and petty theft that goes on inside of Miami night clubs.

While reading this weeks police report from Miami Beach, I see a thief stole a purse with a cellphone valued at $250 after a woman left the items on a bed at Nikki Beach Club.

Also this week, striktlypleasure visited South Beach for his big vacation, and got his friggin' bottles stolen while he was partying VIP-style at Mansion.

What's this city coming to, when dirtbags are stealing drinks?

    Bianca comments...

Never leave your bottles behind. That’s every broke club hopping losers dream! I can’t believe that happened to you guys, but here in Miami, most people in a crowded spot are unworthy of trust. [...] I mean I have had my purse stolen at Glass (a supposed “upscale restaurant/lounge”.) They only thing I found scattered on the floor like 10 min. later were my keys and some guy called me the next day and returned my phone to me.
My advice when you inside a night club - keep your wallet close and your girl closer.

And you asked me if I was exaggerating when I said "South Beach is full of petty theft".

Like I said, "If it’s not locked down, it’s going to be stolen. And even then, there are no guarantees. :-S

If it makes you guys feel any better, you can find that in Houston and New Orleans. Basically, any large metropolitan. Unfortunately that's the way some things are.

I know more than anyone that when things are left unattended in a club, they will get stolen. I lived through the experience. tttnowtts is right, there are thieves no matter where you go. It was just one of my regular nights of slurred speech and too much dancing. LOL. I was at Glass and decided that since everybody else seemed to be dancing on the couches that I would do the same.

The night my purse got ripped off

I put my brand new black Gucci purse behind me on the couch that happened to have my digital camera, keys, ID, cell phone and $100 inside it. I had a weird hunch to turn and keep my eyes on it and like two minutes later when I turned around again, it was gone!

My date ran to go look for it and found my keys ( thank god) and some of my make-up scattered a couple feet away. I was able to look on the bright side of things, at least I was going to make it home. It's just unbelievable that people can be so mean. The next day this really nice guy called me to tell me that he slipped on my phone inside the club and decided to take it and try to find the owner. I met up with him on Lincoln Road and he kindly handed over my phone.

The night my shoes almost got stolen

There is also a second instance of this happening to me and that was at Bricks last year. So my feet were hurting and I had these white, slipp on platforms. Slipped them off so that I could sit and chat with this really hot guy. LOL. Next thing I know this really drunk girl (barefoot) springs over to my table and grabs my shoes as if they were hers . Wait there is more... So then I got up and was like "excuse me where are you going with my shoes?"

Then she was like "oh I am sorry I thought they were mine." She of course handed them back, but I mean come on! Are u freaking kidding me! Who looses their shoes in a club and then tries to steal someone else's shoes? Apparently, she must have been on something else aside from the alcohol.

Miami Herald has more crime at Mansion to report.

Last weekend, a thief pick-pocketed a man inside the night club. The man's wallet, credit cards, and $150 was missing from his back pocket.

The same night, three strangers stole keys, a cellphone, a debit card and $80 from an intoxicated man leaving the Club at 4am. The man said the last he remembered he was drunk and leaving Mansion when he entered a taxi with three strangers and passed out. When he woke up at 7am, he discovered that the items were missing.

There must be a group(s) of people who come to South Beach every weekend just looking for people to rip off.

I wish Miami Beach Police would set up an undercover sting operation an catch these criminals.

I guess my experiences have been sheltered.

I've never had anything stolen but granted I'm usually in good company and we always look out for each other and our things but I 've heard everything from Bianca's shoe incident to a stolen wig!

I guess you do have to be aware of your surroundings but just this weekend I was at Glass @ the Forge. I must have made a few potty breaks as well as a couple of strolls through the Hip-hop room and our bottles were always at our table upon our return. Our waitress was also very attentive.

My husband has been in security for over 25 years. He now runs security for a popular club in NYC. He said it's a security issue they took stricktlypleasure's bottles. With the 30 or so guys they have a night, that shouldn't have happened.

Throw in my hometown Baltimore, Washington DC and as you said almost any area where there's a tourist industry. Before you kiss your kitty good bye and head to the airport surf the net for crime safety tips. There's probably thousands of them.

I hear stories like this all the time but I just can't understand how someone gets their purse stolen. I mean, unless it's a clutch, where it has no straps and thus you gotta set it down somewhere, at least keep an eye on it.

I always have my bag ON me.

And ps: keep your eyes on your drink too. A little tip I learned is IF you must walk away from your cocktail, have a friend keep an eye on it, otherwise take a napkin and cover it over the straw, and push it towards the bartender. Let him know you'll be right back.

Pris: Excellent advice. As a matter of fact, I felt it should be highlighted so, I took the initiative and quoted you in bold green so folks actually read it and see it:-)

And believe it or not, in a crowded club setting both the ladies and men are sometimes so out of it does happen. And, I remember seeing on one of the TV news shows how pickpockets and other folks intent on earning their incomes by ripping off others have a lot of tricks up their sleeves.
