liv is approx 400 buks a bottle, opium group is a group of a handful of different clubs n the vary on price dress code etc. clevelander is anything goes but is more of a sat sun arvo from 4-8 then a big nite spot from what ive gathered. no cover, cheaper drinks then all the others and very loose :-) good way to start b4 u head to the others u mentioned.

Coratbob, you are wrong about Opium, actually.

Opium WAS a club on 2nd St. and Collins Ave. And the namesake of the Opium group. Opium now resides at the Hard Rock Hollywood out in West Broward. The clubs up there are actually BETTER than in South Beach, IMO, but a long drive unless you're staying there. But if you have a car, Opium is def. worth checking out.

actually he is right he said Opium Group... a collection of different clubs.... and Opium in Hardrock is operated by Opium Group as well.. just becareful about drinking and driving...hollywood police are not forgiving..and it's a long drive..

LIV is basically the hottest/hardest to get into club on a Saturday night, and it's at the Fountainblu. It's big, great music, 2 floors, and they have girls who do acrobats hanging down from the ceiling. Overall, fun but depending on the night the wait just won't be worth it. The club also ripped off my friend and made him buy an extra bottle that he didn't plan on.

Opium-closed

Clevelandar-it's an outdoor bar around a pool and it gets a bit more like aclub at night with DJ's and people dancing. I'm guessing the drinks must be cheaper there than clubs. It's not really a dressed up crowd. There's no dress code and it's $10 for guys, and everyone who can pay gets in. I'd go here for a drink before you go to a club.

what time they charge cover at clevelander? im always gone by 9-10 but have neva seen em charge cover? sayin that tho ive usually got there at 4. come 530 that place is soooo much fun aka everyones boozed up :-)

Clevelander charge a cover on big nights or event weekends. Like New Years weekend, Spring Break, Super Bowl, etc. Maybe Saturday nights after 10 as well. But most days there's no cover.

Thanks for the feedback, we've decided to hit one of the clubs at the Hard Rock in Hollywood.

We are looking for a bar to have some drinks at on Saturday afternoon in South Beach. We prefer inexpensive drinks and a good view. Any suggestions?

Head to Montys on Alton Road in South of Fifth. It has one of the best views of the bay, a pool and a real caribbean feel to it, with live music later on in the evenings.

Clevelander is a good spot for that too. Cool view of Ocean Drive, and the rooftop bar view is even better. Drinks aren't cheap, per se, but not outrageous.

My favorite place is Monty's for the view and the cheaper drinks but just discovered that the Clevelander opens its rooftop C-Level bar at 8 PM Fri- Sun, so if you want a view while we're still in daylights saving time, that's not a bad deal. There's music and I don't think there's ever a cover.

I'm planning an event at the Clevelander so I have access to the menu right now, which was sent to me by email. The most expensive drink is $12, all others average $10. Beer/wine under $10. Draft pitchers about $15 - $17 depending on the beer.

Monty's does have a very fun Caribbean atmosphere though. And parking is free in the visitor spots in the Miami Beach Marina garage.
