Halloween costumes
What's everyone dressing as this year?
I think I've decided on mine and I'm not telling! Well I've only told 2 people who happen to use this forum so shhh if you're one of them. The losing costumes are smurfette and alice in wonderland.

Ok, I can't keep it a secret..plus it's going to be super popular this year. Super excited about the eye make up!

Re: Halloween costumes
Is it a costume? Or just a fashion style? Aside from the eye make-up, it looks like some fashionable evening wear.

No, I don't go to movies these days. Or watch TV. Just the internet and Netflix!

Re: Halloween costumes
Ok, well to catch you up it's Natalie portman's evil character in Black Swan. So it's basically a black dance costume. Here's the face:

You're gonna need red contacts if that photo is anything to go by.

Re: Halloween costumes
I'll just do the eyes..I got the black corset/bodice. I'm not wearing a real tutu. I've discovered a tu tu is just a band of fabric around your waist. I'm going for a tulle mini skirt instead.

You might need the tutu, if not people might not recognize you as black swan.

Re: Halloween costumes
I'm with Doug. I had no idea about Black Swan. Looks like it's domestic ticket sales so far are $106,954,678. At a rough average ticket price of $10, that's about 10.7 million people who have seen it in the U.S. .. or about 1 in 28 people. Likely even fewer people, as some of the ticket sales are to a people who see it multiple times themselves.
Contrary to popular perception, even the most popular movies (like Titanic) are still only seen by a minority of the population.
Now, still trying to figure out this year's costumes. The past few years, Janet and I had it figured out by now.

Re: Halloween costumes
Glenn,
My guess for this year's popular costumes:
smurfs
alice in wonderland/mad hatter
native american indian-for girls (just bc mocasins and feather anything is popular right now)
black swan/white swan
angry birds
anything to do with the iphone/ipad/apps
and the top costume...Pippa, but you've gotta have a good butt to pull it off and a slinky cream silk gown.

Last year, we saw a few Alice in Wonderland characters at the big party we go to. What / Who is Pippa?
The past couple years, we didn't try to do anything current. Last year, I was Detective Sonny Crockett from the original 1980s Miami Vice TV show, and Janet was a cop .... a bit of a naughty cop. The year before that, I was Hugh Hefner. I just had to wear black silk pajamas, put on a maroon robe / smoking jacket, and put a pipe in my mouth. Janet went as one of Hef's "bunnies" with clip-on bunny ears, etc.

We looked for one of those retro early 1960s Pan Am stewardess uniforms...like they use on the Pan Am TV show. No luck. Do you know any sources for it? All we could find online are really junky looking stuff that are more like an unrealistic faux "naughty stewardess" look, rather than an early 60s uniform, which are actually a lot more conservative.
