Default Florida weather ( can't beat it )

t this precise moment; I lounging at the pool. My face is lathered in a silky Antheios 45. After I hit the jacuzzi, another dose of Antheios , top to bottom.

I'm in total bliss. The gals are away. A couple guidos are expected here for #Euro12 later with their edible gifts. It's all about FORZA AZZURRI..

    It's a great Floridian day.

My pool is not hosting Maroon 5 or anything like that. Just some Zep on headphone.

Even though I'm a transplant; I'm a rare on. My community of
4,000 boast only another CA couple. On this site, we number three that I know of.

Must have been over a decade ago- maybe two. I welcomed two cousins from Costa Rica. They presented a wish-list which I tried my best to comply.

One was Vegas. That I easily agreed to. On the way there, I stopped somewhere past Barstow. The brothers spotted a patch of snow off The 15. I stayed in my car watching these assholes role and take in the snow patch. It was a 1st for them.

The other items on their wish list were also satisfactorily met. We went to the mountains, San Francisco
and Joshua Tree Monument in the desert.

    One unchecked item
On the list was the Rose Parade in Pasadena. It was the one thing I told these guys I wouldn't do. Eventually I caved in.

We got there after 10PM on New Year's eve. Just in time to mimmick snow and throw marshmellows on Colorado Blvd. Any car that dated venture onto the Blvd, got the rath of the crowd as they got stomped on.

That came and went. It's 2Am and all three of are freezing are balls off. The parade was still 6 hrs away.

Fast forwarding a bit, Pele was the Grand Marshall. As he passed in front of our nose, my cousins are struggling
changing the film in their camera. He waved hi and bye as he passed by.

The reason I share this experience is that many view the parade under 4' of snow. The clear images of the San Gabriels was made to order city of commerce. The images are nice, but not worth freezing you're balls.

Many here come from NY, NJ,RI,VA,MA,OH,VT,OH,MI,WI. , and other god awfull places.

Nothing validates FL weather as an opinion of a native Californian.

I'm going to enjoy it as long as I could.

It's feeling damn good right now.

    SPF 90 folks !

Well one of the main reasons I (was)moving to Florida is because of the weather.. No longer the case ,picked money over weather. Will regret it this winter for sure...

This weather in Miami is all over the place... I love the "Today we will see scattered Thunderstorms..." And I am outside at the beach and it is 92 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

It did rain last weekend as TS Debby passed by. But now it is lovely! I kayaked to Monument Island yesterday, swam and then we took the top down in the car when we went to get food. Beautiful summer evening.

I just washed two cars in this heat and I'm posting from my garage. I'm sweating like a zombie and I'm thriving in it.

Though others complain about it, I love the season we're venturing into. Like a good cigar, I need my humidity and heat.

Blackford we are of a different breed I have been playing with the idea in my mind of going to North Carolina for a month or two. I don't mind the humidity but I would stamp this heat "Return to Sender" if I could. But I can't leave Miami alone and risk missing the Zombie battles.

It's not the heat, really. It's the rain. Why I actually have said I preferred the weather in Central Florida to South. It doesn't rain nearly as much up there (at least as frequently, I'm sure RK or someone will throw up some table to prove me wrong statisticaly). The heat is managable.

The heat in Central FL kills me. I need my ocean breeze. Being in Orlando and Deland is airless to me, I want to pass out. At least when you are down here, it is hot, but the air is moving.

It hasn't rained for days here. We have been having balmy summer nights which I LOVE. A rare thing in the summer, usually it's a wash out, with the added fun of mosquitos.

When I lived in central FL it would not rain as often it seemed, but when it would rain it would be a mini flood and HEAVY rain every time. But that was in Melbourne right by the rivers and the ocean I'm sure Orlando is different.

Yeah and I guess I was talking more like Gianesville. Which, though lacking Breeze, is also very green so it stays cool-ish.

In my part of CFL, like clockwork, the breeze from the gulf hits us at ~9A.

Based on my experience, the humidity in Miami is more harsh. Guess you get that with more water around.

I'm aware many complain around this time of the year. It just happens to be my favorite.

This heat is rough, the only thing worse is sunburn which I get ridiculously quickly the second I step outside. If the heat and humidity were the same, but the day could be overcast constantly I would be a happy camper.

Those overcast days are nice for a change, I agree Dylan. But when I look out the window in the morning and see a bright day with blue skies I'm stunned. How lucky we are to have that. Maybe a Miami born and raised doesn't even notice how gorgeous those days are, you've had it all your life. Imagine growing up with gloomy skies day in day out. Take your depression and multiply by 5.

It can take years to acclimate to Miami's tropical heat, that's for sure. It's usually the high humidity that kills people. I love being hot and dripping sweat. Makes you feel alive.

Maybe the question to ask yourself is, are you more miserable when it's too hot or too cold?

As far as acclimation, I'd say I fared well. There was one incident that I believe I was on a treshold of a heat stroke. It was late Summer, right after Hurricane Charlie.. two months after the move. We were without power and water for a week. An outfit from Tennessee was kind to send us a truck of bottled water. Volunteered emptying the truck and distributing water to cars passing by. After clearing 3/4ths of the cargo, my body couldn't take it anymore in the heat.

Another issue I had was sunburn. Even though I inherited my father's mediterrean skin tone, I burn easily. On one occasion, the burn was so servere, my face tightened up and had to eat apple sauce for a few days. I couldn't open my mouth.

Since then, I lather up with Anthelios every day.

The other peculiar adaptation was sun glasses. I never wore them in CA. For some strange reason, I'd struggle to stay awake while driving under clear blue skies- even after a good sleep. Shades seem to cure that, and I allow myself the luxury to have three good pair as I tend to lose them.

The other key is hydration. The guys at the softball league, determine the measue the heat and humidity index by calculating how many bottles of water will be needed to survive to seven inning games. Do to some structural health issues, I haven't played softball since last Labor Day. If I was there today, it would easily have been a 4-5 bottle for three hours.

In summary: if I I'm hydrated, spf'd up and shaded, I welcome the heat.... and CA/LA needs half a day to warm up. Those Rose Parade images look nice, but it's cold as F.

That's what I like about the climate in Miami: It is always at least warm. Hot in the day (that's a given) but then you leave the house at 9 in the evening and it's still toasty and humid. It's like you're given warmth (symbolically speaking) at all times of the day.
