Aw come on Rebecca, Sungal had a really good intention. And besides, when it comes to helping people, if everyone thought that way, nothing would ever get done. I'm gonna spank you, sistah! %-P

Ok, let's cut all the nonsense.
I started a new thread to list volunteer opportunities in South Florida.
Christina, feel free to stop by that thread and tell us more about GS.
The first one is helping create a garden by the Miami River. I'm goin' broken leg and all! Who wants to help me get there and back, and who wants to help me drink a cupla beers at Finnegans' on the River afterward?

Brad, I was *just* thinking of you ... our car must have us psychically connected. I was going to mention that you were a contact person for ECOMB. Great! Thanks for stopping by.

You started another thread? WTF. How many more threads do we need on this subject?

I had to, Carlos. Any 411 would get lost in this thread.

Hey all, I was on vacation for the last few days so haven' had the chance to log in. How's this idea coming along? Anything set in stone yet? I was thinking about it today when I passed by Camillus House on the way to Crandon Park.

Without you, it fell apart.

I think we still haven't agreed on anything yet. I'll be a part of whatever we end up doing.

Yo! WAKE UPPPPPP THREAD.. (SMACK) <-- preferably on the face.
Everyone is ready to help but we have not set anything up. I'm not really one to assume the authoritative position but let's kick this in gear and start helping some peeps out!!
We need....
Date: Weekday or weekend best for you guys?
Time: morning, afternoon, evening
What: Which organization will we be helping? What will we be doing?
Where: If it is not at a specific location or a specific organization that we will be helping, where will we host our service giving?
Let's get some ideas together and then by the end of next week we will have something for sure set-up.

In the other thread Maria started she posted up:
(Miami, FL) – Over 30 City Year Miami Young Heroes, 20 City Year Corps Members and additional volunteers will join the Miami River Commission (MRC) on Saturday, May 16, 2009, 12:30-3:30 pm, to create the first-ever riverfront fruit and vegetable garden on the historic Miami River, and help beautify the shoreline along Miami-Dade County's Robert King High Towers, 1407 NW 7 Street.
Feel free to join us at this MRC co-sponsored event. Just remember to bring closed-toed shoes and sunscreen. For more information about the Miami River Commission, please visit our website,
Miami River Commission.
I like this idea and think it sounds like a nice time!! I'm going to go. If anyone wants to join in... let me know. I'll be there for sure. Maria, are you going?

I can only do it on the weekend since I have to work all week and will be traveling from deerfield. :) Good call, I was kindof waiting around to see who would do something. I'm happy to help make some phone calls

You guys could always help out with Brad's event. It's a fundraiser for ECOMB and he is one of your own, after all.

Kristine, I am not able to go because of a previous commitment. PLEASE NOTE: CALL THE MIAMI RIVER COMMISSION (SEE WEBSITE) TO CHECK LOCATION-- it has been changed.

What kind of help do you need for Brad's event?
At the very least, I can certainly tweet the hell out of it and publicize it on my blog, but there's not much I can do in terms of field work until my leg heals.
Brad hasn't asked me to do anything, as of yet.

I've been promoting around my apt complex, and am pretty sure I have a singer/songwriter to sing a few songs and play guitar- he wants to know if he needs to write new songs about environment, I told him I think not,

I am unable to go to the event on the 30th because I will be in Orlando :( I did see that Brad posted the big daddy clean-up on June 14th... but that also strays away from our original idea of helping PEOPLE. I like the idea of helping out Earth bc hey... no Earth = no us, no us = we can't help people! heh
So.... environmental clean-up with Brad and ECOMB on June 14th sound good for the first mb411 help-a-thon??? I'm down.
If you would prefer to do something geared more towards people, speak-up...

If my leg is ok by June 14th, I would certainly love to help in the clean-up. You're right Kristine, that could an easy one to start with.
