Some say, "Travel Advisor". What's that?

    Thanks.

That's reserved for members who know everything(*) about the weather.

I still miss the "regular" membership level. Will it be coming back?

(* Everything except "what is the highest heat index ever recorded in the USA?")

Glenn, I can't remember why we added the "Travel Advisor" level. I'll ask Mike and get back with you.

rk, what are the "regular" membership levels you miss?

FYI, we also have a "Nightclub Promoter" level that is used by a few members, but I am not sure if it's necessary anymore.

I think it should just be the levels above unless you are 411 staff. It is too confusing otherwise.

And I thought Owls had long memories (or was it elephants?)

It was the membership level I was at a couple of years ago before it mysteriously changed. Just "Regular".

Elephants have long memories! Owls see everything!

Regular was that level with the new forums that pissed Fred off and he refused to write until someone changed his membership level name lol.

This owl's specialty has always been getting to the center of Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop.

A few years back, I tried to come up with some nifty travel-related membership levels, but they were confusing, and really not very good.

    Always open to suggestions, though.

I do wonder if we should restrict the Guests privileges, to not being able to see images and member profiles, like many other forums do... does anyone have an option about that?

That's how it is now I thought? When I am not logged in you cannot see attachments and so on.

    That owl rocks.

My vote on in this would be no, i.e. leave it as is. Currently, I can see attachments if I am not logged in, with all browsers that I can recall.

You have to ask why you would do it otherwise. If you're trying to artificially boost membership numbers, that's the only reason I can think of, what purpose does that serve? At the same time you'd lose other visitors who'd find it annoying to have to register for no particular reason. If anyone is serious about asking a question or posting a reply, they have to register anyway. Every small impediment will make the site just a bit less useful, and a bit less used.

    Well said, rk.

I wanted to "Like" like your post, but the link is missing. I'll contact Mike and ask him to investigate.

Update: The link reappeared, after I posted. Looks like the problem is, the "Like" link is missing from last post in the thread.

Hmm.. I'm seeing the like button on all posts incl the last one. Maybe a temporary glitch?

Now, now, that's not 'quite' how it happened...............

If you recall, Gus made rk, myself and someone else moderators, someone, did not think this was a good idea and then further changes occurred.

    Remember???

Well what happened was you guys were made moderators by mistake by Mike. You weren't meant to end up in that user group, not even Carlos and Matt are in that group, we only have 3 moderators. So they made a new group to show you guys were still MB regulars, or 'locals'. But no one liked the name!

OK, we've cleaned things up and removed the "Travel Advisor" level.

For the time being, we are keeping the "Nightclub Promoter" level for a few members, to allow them to post in the new nightlife sub forum, but itthat level becomes redundant, we'll remove level, too.
