Duplicating Words at the End of Lines
Have any of you had this issue where at the end of a line on your post the last word repeats? I know I didn't type it twice. Weird.

Yes, I have seen it many times. It seems to happen randomly.

I'm glad it wasn't just me! Here's an example for those who haven't noticed it:

Weird. I'll ask Mike to check it out. Thanks for letting us know.

Just to revive this thread a bit, the problem is still there. I noticed it in two places a few minutes ago:
Hello beautiful Miami
Casual Place for a big group (20-25)
In the first link, my post, the word "hectic" is repeated at the end of the first line. In the second link, Maria's post, the word "mingle" is repeated.

rk, I don't see either word repeated twice as you described. Are they still there?

Very interesting, that means the repeating word is a display problem at the user end, though could still be due to buggy html produced by vb.
Yes, I still see it, here's screen capture (IE9 and Win7 64-bit, look at the word hectic at the end of the first line, and start of the second line):

OK, narrowed it down some more. The words do not repeat when viewed with Firefox or Chrome.
Then I noticed my IE9 was set to "compatibility view" by accident. When I disable that, the repeating words problem got fixed.
So it would seem to be a bug in IE's "compatibility view" feature. If anyone notices it, have them get out of compatibility mode.

Furthermore, those oddities I had seen in the menu I mentioned in the other thread also went away when I got out of compatibility view mode.

rk, thanks for solving the issue.
Microsoft has some information about enabling and disabling the compatibility view feature with in certain websites - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197
It's also starting to feel like the vBulletin software is getting more and more temperamental, about the strangest things.

Would not blame vb for this one. It's 100% IE compatibility view at fault.

I appreciate you saying that.
I don't want Mike to think I'm complaining about our favorite forum software.

I haven't noticed the duplicating words lately. I also suspect that it's a display issue on the user end, though I'm no techie!

Doug, definitely a bug in IE compatibility mode. You can see it as follows:
Go to one of the posts which shows the problem, e.g. the following post by Maria:
Casual Place for a big group (20-25)
Notice the word "mingle" at the end of the first sentence. Now, click on the "compatibility view" button in the IE toolbar, and suddenly you'll see "mingle" repeated twice, Click on the "compatibility view" again, the second mingle goes away.
Here's a picture oh what the "compatibility view" button looks like in IE8:

Be sure to leave the compatibility button in the off state to avoid future display problems.

Thanks, rk. I've been using Firefox almost exclusively now. Has anyone tried out the new Google Chrome? I wonder if that's better.
