Default MB 411 Remember Me Feature is Forgetting Me!

Lately I've noticed on my IE 8 that MB411 keeps logging me out. I don't think it's my browser settings because other sites remember me. What do you suggest? Gingko biloba?

Thanks for posting the bug report. Getting logged out too soon has been bugging me, too. This should be fixed by tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Same here. For a few weeks now, I have been getting logged out every time I leave the sitte, despite checking the "remebmer me" box". Have to log back in each time I return to the site.

Glenn, sorry about the inconvenience. You were the first person to mention the bug. I'm finding it very annoying, myself, to have to keep logging in.

I'm almost sure this will be fixed by tomorrow morning. We've had to time fixing it with another change, that has to do with staying logged in, while you're on the home page and weblogs, and Tim says he'll be rolling that out early tomorrow morning.

Mike may need to change some stuff, after Tim is through.

I'll make sure to update this thread, right away.

    Cool

Myself and Tim have been making adjustments, I do know now in the forum you should remain logged in for quite a while (up to 7 days to be exact) now if you click "Log Out" or your browser is set to clear cookies after each session this will not be the case. Tim is going to adjust the Home and Blogs so this should be corrected ASAP.

    Sincerely,

    Mike

I have sort of a reverse problem. Most of the time after I login the top menu changes so there is no way to log out. I have been relying on the auto log-off feature to log in out at some point. I posted pictures in that other thread about the blue bar. Using IE8 or IE9 on Win7.

Just tested with IE8 non XP, same problem there also.

I just realized that Internet Explorer is logging me out of all my password protected sites every time I close the browser. It's not doing that with Firefox. Is there a solution for this with IE that you know of? I can just use Firefox but there are times when it's good to have both.

I use internet explorer, but only get logged out from MB411. It stays logged in on other sites.

Doug, Check your settings in Tools -> Internet Options
In the Browsing History section, make sure the check box labeled "Delete browsing history on Exit" is not "checked".

Hi RK, it's not checked, and I am noticing that it stays logged in to some sites, but not Facebook or Miami Beach 411. But if I open Firefox, it shows me as being still logged in to these sites, even though it's telling me I'm logged out on IE. That's weird!

Are you getting logged out with the same frequency as before?

I got an email from Mike, saying he increased the "logged out" setting to 7 days. (My apology for not notifying everyone of the new setting.)

How often are you getting logged out?

I get logged out immediately if I leave the site and come back. Let's say I close MB411, then go to weather.com (or whatever), then I dedice to come back to MB411 a minute later....I will be logged out. If I just minimize MB411, I stay logged in. I haven't tested if that workes for a week, as I usually shut down each night (which logs me out.)

Doug, Mike, rk, UTS, can you tell us how long you're staying logged in for?

I believe the "7-day" setting is working for me.

Glenn, have you tried logging in from another computer?

I'll try that later tonight. It does seem to only be MB411 that logs me out. I stay logged in on some other sites with my usual computer.

(The following is with IE9 and Win7 64-bit)

A quick test shows that unless I log-out specifically, I stay logged in even when I close the browser, then re-launch it after a few minutes. Checking or un-checking the "remember me" box seems to have no impact one way or the other.

It's the same situation with me on IE. If I leave the MB 411 site and go to another one and come back 30 seconds later, I'm logged out. However, I can open Firefox and go to MB 411 and it still shows me as being logged in. It's the same on IE with Facebook, lately. It must be a glitch with IE.

I tried it on another computer (Janet's work laptop), and it stays logged in. The page looks a little different, too. My computer just has the word "Login", while Janet's work laptop has more of a "button" that says "Login".

I do not experience what Doug does for facebook. My comptuer stays logged in on Facebook. So far, only MB411 has the automatically getting logged out issue.

Glenn thanks for testing it out. If the site looks different from the the two computers, I wonder if the browser cache needs to be cleared, from your computer. If you don't mind, please clear your browser cache and check it.

Here's how i'd like you to check...

From your computer, after you clear the cache, can you please logout and then login from the home page (http://www.miamibeach411.com/) and see if it works?
